Holmes<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ryan\u00a0Lochte<\/strong> fabricated the story that he was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning in Rio.\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Gunnar Bentz<\/strong>, both reportedly with Lochte at the time, admitted that the robbery story was &#8220;made up&#8221; to Rio police Thursday after being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jack-conger-gunnar-bentz-detained-at-rio-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\">pulled off a plane<\/a> back to the U.S. late Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Reports by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/ryan-lochte-made-up-story-rio-de-janeiro-robbery\/\" target=\"_blank\">CBS News<\/a> state that the swimmers pushed on the door of an outside bathroom at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca and broke it after finding it locked. A security guard, who was &#8220;armed with a pistol,&#8221; confronted them but never took out his gun or pointed it at them.\u00a0The manager used a customer to help translate, telling the swimmers that they had to pay for the broken door.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE No. 1:\u00a0<\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AP_Sports\/status\/766340110510161924\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press reports<\/a> that two security guards\u00a0<em>did<\/em> point guns at U.S. swimmers during the confrontation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;They&#39;re vandals,&quot; gas station owner says. And we would cooperate,&#8221; Ostrow said. &#8220;But I haven&#8217;t heard from anyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE No. 3:\u00a0<\/strong>In a Thursday afternoon press conference, Rio police confirmed the report that there was no robbery.
