JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 The North Florida women’s swimming team unveiled its 2016-17 schedule. The slate includes a pair of home meets in the month of October.<\/p>\n
To kick off the 2016-17 season, the Ospreys will have select swimmers participate in the CSCAA Collegiate Open Water Championship at Lone Star Lake near the University of Kansas. North Florida will begin dual meet action on Oct. 8 when they host Gardner-Webb and Florida Atlantic at Episcopal High School.<\/p>\n
“We always look at ways to challenge our swimmers and the quality of this schedule we hope brings out the best in them,” said 2016 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association co-Coach of the Year, Ian Coffey. “We want to build on the success of last year and continue to reach new heights for this program.”<\/p>\n
Last season the Ospreys erased eight school records and scored 470 points at the CCSA Championships, the second highest total in school history.<\/p>\n
North Florida will make a visit to the defending CCSA champion FGCU Eagles on Oct. 14 in Fort Myers before returning home for the team’s final home meet on Oct. 22 against CCSA foe UNC Asheville. The program will honor its four seniors with a ceremony prior to the meet.<\/p>\n
The Ospreys will travel to FIU to participate in a tri-meet with the Panthers and the University of Miami on Nov. 5. The first half of the season will conclude at the Florida Tech \u2013 Panther Invite Nov. 18-20. In last year’s meet the Ospreys established a flurry of personal bests and entered six times into the school’s all-time top-10.<\/p>\n
The annual training trip for the Ospreys will take place in Key West, Florida December 9-15.<\/p>\n
After the New Year, the Ospreys will compete in meets against Georgia Southern on Jan. 21 and end the dual meet season at Campbell on Jan. 28.
\nThe 2017 CCSA Championships will be once again held at the University of Georgia’s Gabrielson Natatorium Feb. 15-18.<\/p>\n
