A week ago\u00a0the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced<\/a> that the Russian athletes would be banned from next month’s Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n

That decision came as a results of the McLaren report which revealed systematic Russian doping. While the International Olympic Committee avoided banning the entire Russian nation from the Olympic Games, seven Russian swimmers were initially banned.<\/p>\n

Today, the IPC announced that the Russian Paralympic Committee has filed an appeal on the ban. The case will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Paralympic Games will take place\u00a0September 7-18.<\/p>\n

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has received official notification of an appeal from the Russian Paralympic Committee regarding the suspension of its IPC membership.<\/p>\n

Following an agreement between the two parties, the appeal will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, 21 August<\/span><\/span> and a final decision will be announced by CAS by midnight CEST<\/span><\/span> on\u00a0Monday, 22 August<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The IPC suspended the Russian Paralympic Committee on Sunday, 7 August due to its inability to fulfil its IPC membership responsibilities and obligations, in particular its obligation to comply with the IPC Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Code (to which it is also a signatory).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
