COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Feb. 2. THE FOURTH-ranked Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team outswam the 19th-ranked SMU Mustangs by a score of 145-91 on Friday at the Student Rec Center Natatorium.<\/p>\n
Before the meet began, six Aggie seniors were honored for their accomplishments. Michael Colligan, Michael Greene, Devin Howard, Keven Kehlenbach, Alfred Mansour and David Morrow have all been an asset to the Texas A&M swimming program.<\/p>\n
In the first event on the evening, the 400-yard medley relay team of Riley Janes, Brett Ruoff, Greene and Colligan swam a time of 3:17.43, good for first place. Janes' lead-off split in the 100-back of 47.18
\ncurrently ranks first in the nation and is a season-best for him.<\/p>\n
Patrick Dideum and Scott Hansen took first and third places, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle with season-best times of 9:17.71 and 9:19.82. Dideum's time was also a career-best time.<\/p>\n
In the 200-yard free, Howard, an accounting major from Klein, Texas, set an A&M record with a consideration time of 1:38.13. Taking second and third places were Mansour (1:39.03) and Patrick Kennedy (1:39.19), both swimming lifetime best times.<\/p>\n
The Aggies took the top two spots in the 50-yard free with Morrow taking first (20.27) and Janes taking second (20.29).<\/p>\n
Howard contined his streak with a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, swimming a tme of 1:47.78. Greene came in second with a time of 1:51.63.<\/p>\n
In the 100-yard free, Morrow, a native of Norfolk, Nebraska, took first-place with a season-best time of 44.54, Janes took second (44.67) and freshman Matt Rose took third (45.24).<\/p>\n
Kennedy continued his dominance in the 200-yard backstroke and took first place with a time of 1:46.64. In the 500-yard free, Mansour swam a career-best time of 4:33.34, taking third place.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Zach Widener took second place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:06.43.<\/p>\n
On the boards, Adam Morgan, a sophomore from Newfound-land, Canada, took first place on the three-meter springboard with a score of 306.60 and second place on the one-meter (294.00).<\/p>\n
In the final event, Mansour, Colligan, Rose and Morrow took first place in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 2:58.78. Mansour's lead-off split of 44.90 was a season-best in the 100-yard free.<\/p>\n
The Aggies now move to 8-1 in dual meet competition and remain 2-1 in Big 12 competition. Up next for the men are the Big 12 Championships to be held in Austin, Texas, March 1-3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
