Night seven of Rio Olympic swimming featured four back to back finals, and one semifinal.<\/p>\n

Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>got the night off to an exciting start. In the final five yards of the women’s 200 backstroke, the American upset\u00a0Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>‘s bid for four individual gold medals, getting to the wall .06 seconds ahead of the Hungarian.<\/p>\n

Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>got out to a quick start in the men’s 100 butterfly. He held off\u00a0Michael Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>to earn the first swimming medal for Singapore. Phelps was a part of a historic three way tie for silver with\u00a0Chad le Clos\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Laszlo Cseh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>put together her most dominant race of the week, finishing a body length ahead of the world record line in the 800 freestyle, completing a historic sweep of the 200, 400, and 800 freestyles.<\/p>\n

Anthony Ervin\u00a0<\/strong>earned Olympic gold in the men’s 50 freestyle, 16 years after he won his first. Tonight’s victory came by .01. In Sydney in 2000, Ervin tied for gold.<\/p>\n

Pernille Blume\u00a0<\/strong>of Denmark held onto her top spot in the 50 freestyle semifinals.<\/p>\n
