{"id":217488,"date":"2016-08-11T06:32:01","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T13:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=217488"},"modified":"2016-08-11T09:22:37","modified_gmt":"2016-08-11T16:22:37","slug":"2016-junior-nationals-day-4-prelims-live-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2016-junior-nationals-day-4-prelims-live-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Junior Nationals: Day 4 Prelims Live Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Everything you need to follow along with prelims of day three\u00a0of the 2016 Speedo Junior National Championships.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Schedule of Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 Free<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 breast<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 breast<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 100 back<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 100 back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Hit refresh for the latest results<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Free:<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To start things off on day four of the Speedo Junior Nationals we had a close prelim session for the women&#8217;s 200 free, with the top 8 tonight only being separated by a second. \u00a0<strong>Morgan Tankersley\u00a0<\/strong>of Greater Tampa finished first this morning to secure the top seed for tonight&#8217;s A final with a time of 2:01.79. \u00a0Just behind Tankersley was\u00a0<strong>Miranda Heckman\u00a0<\/strong>of the Pleasanton Seahawks who will be second tonight by just a few hundredths, touching this morning at 2:01.87.<\/p>\n<p>Only a hundredth behind Heckman,\u00a0<strong>Melissa Pish\u00a0<\/strong>will be third going into finals at 2:01.87. \u00a0At fourth and fifth, we have\u00a0<strong>Dakota<\/strong> <strong>Luther <\/strong>(2:02.08) of Austin Swim Club and<strong> Regan Smith <\/strong>(2.02.32) of Riptide Swim Team.<del><\/del><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Then to round out tonight&#8217;s A final we have <strong>Morgan Scott<\/strong> (2.02.34), <strong>Taylor Ault<\/strong> (2:02.54) and <strong>Emma Nordin<\/strong> (2:02.77).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\">Men&#8217;s 200 Free:<\/h2>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, there will be a little bit wider of a spread for the top eight, but it will still be a close race! This morning, <b>Drew Kibler<\/b> of Carmel Swim Club clocked in the top time at 1:50.82. \u00a0Behind Kibler, <b>Fynn Mirmuth<\/b> dropped over three seconds to finish second this morning and get a best time of 1:51.00.<\/p>\n<p>After Kibler\u00a0and Mirmuth the race is incredibly close. <b>Patrick<\/b> <b>Callan<\/b> of Trident Aquatics finished third overall this morning after touching at 1:52.01, just ahead of Dayton Raiders <b>Cody Bybee<\/b> who was fourth at 1:52.12.<\/p>\n<p>Bybee was then just a hundredth ahead of Upper Dublin&#8217;s <b>Jake Sannem<\/b> who finished at 1:52.13. \u00a0<b>Levante Bathory<\/b> (1:52.41) of Enfinity Aquatics Club, <b>Jack Levant<\/b> (1:52:55) and <b>Sam Schilling<\/b> (1:52.59) of the Aquajets will be sixth, seventh and eighth in tonight&#8217;s\u00a0A final.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast:<\/h2>\n<p>Moving on to the 200 breast,\u00a0<strong>Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>of Fort Collins crushed the event with a best time of 2:28.04. \u00a0Behind Bartel,\u00a0<strong>Rachel Ramey\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas Ford Aquatics was right at her best touching at 2:31.92 to secure her a second place seed entering finals tonight.<\/p>\n<p>With Bartel and Ramey well ahead of the rest of the field, Bartel&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Bailey Kovac\u00a0<\/strong>was able to clock in the third fastest time this morning at 2:34.06. \u00a0Just behind Kovac was\u00a0<strong>Halle Morris<\/strong> of North Bay Aquatics who finished at 2:34.83, while\u00a0<strong>Kaki Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>of Chelsea Piers Aquatics finished fifth overall with a best time of 2:35.26.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the top eight tonight will be <strong>Olivia Calegan\u00a0<\/strong>(2:35.43) of Greater Nebraska,\u00a0<strong>Nicole Williams\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.59) of Columbia Swim Club and\u00a0<strong>Kelsey Lloyd\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.65) of Brea Aquatics, who all finished with best times this morning.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast:<\/h2>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side it was a very exciting prelims session for Race Pace Club&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> who had a best time by three seconds to claim the top seed for tonight&#8217;s A final. \u00a0Andrew touched at 2:16.66, while\u00a0<strong>AJ Bornstein\u00a0<\/strong>of Ridgefield Aquatics was just behind him at 2:17.19 to take the second seed tonight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jake Foster\u00a0<\/strong>of the Mason Manta Rays was third overall this morning, finishing just at his best time at 2:17.41. \u00a0The top three seeds going into tonight have a slight lead on the rest of the field, with\u00a0<strong>Devon Nowicki\u00a0<\/strong>of Aqua Swim Club finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:19.35. \u00a0Nowicki will enter finals tonight just ahead of fifth place seed\u00a0<strong>Tommy Cope\u00a0<\/strong>of the Dayton Raiders who was right at his entry time, touching this morning at 2:19.78.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ethan Dang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.17) of King Aquatic Club,\u00a0<strong>Brennan Pastorek\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.46) of Georgia Costal and\u00a0<strong>Lyon Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.88) of Pleasanton Seahawks will also compete in the A final tonight.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Back:<\/h2>\n<p>After winning the 200 back two nights ago, <strong>Lucie Nordmann\u00a0<\/strong>of Magnolia Aquatics cranked out another best time this morning going a 1:00.31 in the 100 back to win the top seed going into tonight&#8217;s A final. \u00a0Behind Nordmann, once again <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>\u00a0of the Riptide Swim Team will take the second seed going into tonight&#8217;s A final. \u00a0After racing in the 200 free earlier this morning, Smith was able to clock in a best time at 1:00.86.<\/p>\n<p>As the top seed entering the meet,\u00a0<strong>Grace Ariola <\/strong>of\u00a0Waves Bloomington was slightly off her entry time this morning clocking in at 1:01.83. \u00a0Ariola will be third entering tonight&#8217;s A final, with\u00a0<strong>Callie Dickinson\u00a0<\/strong>of Tide Swimming finishing fourth overall at 1:02.26.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tevyn Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>of Mitchell Aquatics finished with a best time of 1:02.50 this morning, to secure her a spot in the A final tonight. \u00a0<strong>Katherine Berkoff\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.59) of Missoula Aquatic,\u00a0<strong>Bayley Stewart\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.94) of Fort Collins and\u00a0<strong>Marcie Maguire\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.24)\u00a0of Ridgefield Aquatics will also be racing in the A final tonight.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Back:<\/h2>\n<p>With an incredibly quick turn around from the 200 breast, Race Pace Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>clocked in the top time this morning in the men&#8217;s 100 back at 55.60. \u00a0Earning the second seed tonight,\u00a0<strong>Alessa Boratto\u00a0<\/strong>of Upper Dublin Aquatics Club was just off his best at 56.01.<\/p>\n<p>After winning the men&#8217;s 200 back two nights ago,\u00a0<strong>Clark Beach\u00a0<\/strong>of Quest Swimming finished this morning with a best time of 56.08. \u00a0Beach will be the third seed entering finals tonight, with\u00a0<strong>Josh Artmann\u00a0<\/strong>of Austin Swim Club earning the fourth seed tonight. \u00a0Artmann finished\u00a0second in the 200 back with a best time, but was just of his entry time this morning, clocking in a 56.84.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing fifth overall this morning was\u00a0<strong>Noah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>of the Tigershark&#8217;s with a time of 56.92. \u00a0<strong>Kyle Mass\u00a0<\/strong>of Michigan Lakeshore was right behind Henry at 57.14, just a hundredth ahead of King Aquatics\u00a0<strong>Thomas Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>at 57.15.<\/p>\n<p>And to round out the A final for the men&#8217;s 100 back,\u00a0<strong>John Whiteside\u00a0<\/strong>of Westport Weston finished eighth with a best time of
