{"id":217401,"date":"2016-08-10T14:02:30","date_gmt":"2016-08-10T21:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=217401"},"modified":"2016-08-10T16:34:24","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T23:34:24","slug":"2016-junior-nationals-day-3-finals-live-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2016-junior-nationals-day-3-finals-live-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Junior Nationals: Day 3 Finals Live Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Caitlin Daday, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Everything you need to follow along with finals on night three of the 2016 Speedo Junior National Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule of Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 400 Freestyle<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 400 Freestyle<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 100 Butterfly<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 100 Butterfly<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 800 Freestyle Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hit refresh for all the latest updates.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 400 Freestyle:<\/h2>\n<p>With a quick time of 4:10.87, Sandpiper&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Erica Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>held onto her top spot in the first event of the evening. Second behind her was La Mirada Armada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Taylor Ault\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:11.57. Following Sullivan and Ault was\u00a0<strong>Morgan Tankersly\u00a0<\/strong>out of Greater Tampa in 4:13.20.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Melissa Pish<\/strong> of Waves Bloomington touched fourth in 4:17.72. Fifth place went to the Fish&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Madelyn Donohoe<\/strong> in 4:18.22, who was followed by Mansfield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Haley Yelle<\/strong> in 4:18.91.<\/p>\n<p>Magnolia teammates\u00a0<strong>Joy Field\u00a0<\/strong>(4:20.00) and\u00a0<strong>Kaitlynn Sims<\/strong> (4:21.90) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 400 Freestyle:<\/h2>\n<p>Dropping another second from prelims,\u00a0<strong>Fynn Minuth<\/strong> took home the Junior National title in 3:53.61. While Minuth won handily, the battle for second was tighter. Carmel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>was the runner-up, touching out\u00a0<strong>Johannes Calloni<\/strong> of Scarlet, 3:55.49 to 3:55.60. Fourth place went to Trident&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patrick Callan\u00a0<\/strong>in 3:56.92.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the fifth spot was Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aaron Apel<\/strong> with a time of 3:57.11. Just behind him was\u00a0<strong>Michael Brinegar<\/strong> of Golden West in 3:57.98.<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joshua McDonald\u00a0<\/strong>was seventh in 4:00.33, while\u00a0<strong>Zach Yeadon<\/strong> of Alamo took eighth in 4:01.52.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Butterfly:<\/h2>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 100 butterfly, Austin&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dakota Luther <\/strong>once again proved her dominance in the stroke, dipping under the minute barrier in 59.86 to win the race. Luther was closely followed by Fort Collins&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Coleen Gillilan<\/strong> in 1:00.01.\u00a0<strong>Reagan Smith<\/strong> of Riptide took third in 1:00.46.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to Brea&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexis Margett<\/strong>, who touched in a time of 1:00.64.\u00a0<strong>Trude Rothrock<\/strong>, representing Carmel, followed in 1:00.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Callie Dickinson<\/strong> of Tide took sixth place in 1:01.17. Just behind Dickinson were Socal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elise Garcia<\/strong> (1:01.24) and Brea&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kenisha Liu<\/strong> (1:01.32) for seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Butterfly:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> held on to his top spot, winning the men&#8217;s butterfly in 53.18. Finishing second was\u00a0<strong>Cody Bybee<\/strong> of the Dayton Raiders with a time of 54.07. Bybee just touched out Kingfish&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Camden Murphy<\/strong>, who finished in 54.14.<\/p>\n<p>North Carolina&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Will Macmillan<\/strong> took fourth place in 54.49, just ahead of Multnomah&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Van Mathias<\/strong> in 54.53.\u00a0<strong>Spencer Carl\u00a0<\/strong>of Michigan Lakeshore finished in sixth place with a time of 54.73.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh place went to Fort Collins&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Danny Kovac<\/strong> in 54.97. Bolles&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ariel Spektor\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight in 55.60.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 800 Freestyle Relay:<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Dayton Raiders\u00a0<\/strong>took home a solid win in the 4&#215;200 relay. They posted a time of 7:34.07, a full second ahead of the second place team,\u00a0<strong>Austin Swim Club<\/strong>, who finished in 7:35.18.
