Before the women started on synchronized platform, the pool suddenly turned bright green, perplexing\u00a0athletes and spectators.<\/p>\n<p>FINA released a statement about the pool taking on the unexpected color. They clarified that the color was only a result of changes in the pool&#8217;s pH balance. The result of the water filters running out of some of the chemicals they use to treat the pool water.<\/p>\n<p>The FINA Sports Medicine Committee reassured athletes and spectators\u00a0after testing the water that there was &#8220;no risk to the health and safety of the athletes, and no reason for the competition to be effected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The diving well momentarily matched Rio&#8217;s entire color theme, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation, an important issue to the country that&#8217;s\u00a0home to\u00a0the Amazon.\u00a0Although it might not have looked as inviting as a crystal clear pool, Olympic divers and gymnasts from around the world can now bond over their bright green surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>It may have looked a little strange, but it was completely safe, and the games must continue!<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wait is someone playing a joke or are we celebrating St Patty&#39;s Day early here in Rio? <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/divingpond?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#divingpond<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Olympics?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Olympics<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CsxxperHvM\">pic.twitter.com\/CsxxperHvM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; David Boudia (@davidboudia) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidboudia\/status\/763102117137682432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 9, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Updated:<\/p>\n<p>As the Olympic Games have continued on the pools at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre that play host to the water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming events have reached even darker shades of green.
