PHOENIX, Arizona, July 20. THIS weekend featured seven FINA Masters World records being set on both sides of the United States.<\/p>\n
At the Gil Young Memorial meet held in Mount Hood, Ore., six global marks took a tumble.<\/p>\n
David Radcliff, 75, took down four records in the men's 75-79 age division. He clocked a time of 30.28 in the 50 free to clear the 30.63 set by Japan's Shingo Yamamoto in 2008. He also touched in 1:06.63 in the 200 free to smash Yamamoto's record of 1:10.02 also set last year. En route to a world record in the 1500 free, Radcliff clocked an 11:07.90 as the 800 free split to crush Graham Johnston's 2006 record of 11:25.95. Radcliff finished the metric mile in 21:03.06, which cut two minutes off Johnston's 2006 standard of 23:02.25.<\/p>\n
Dennis Baker, 48, clipped the global standard in the men's 45-49 age division for the men's 200 free with a relay leadoff time of 1:59.34. The performance edged the 1:59.37 set by Germany's Kai Ditzel back in 2008.<\/p>\n
In relay action, Wes Edwards, Allen Stark, Bert Petersen and Mike Tennant posted a 2:04.44 in the men's 240-279 200 medley relay to break the FINA Masters world record of 2:04.87 set by The Olympic Club in 2006.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Oswaldo Quevedo, 32, shot down the FINA Masters world record in the men's 30-34 100 fly during the Florida Senior Challenge held in Fort Lauderdale this weekend. Quevedo checked in with a 55.90 to become the first man in the age division to clear 56 seconds. Japan's Hiroki Nakazano owned the previous record with a 56.14 set in 2007.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
