Great Britain&#8217;s <\/span><b>Andrew Willis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">secured third in 2:08.92.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russia&#8217;s <\/span><b>Ilya Khomenko <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be the fourth seed with his 2:08.94 and <\/span><b>Marco Koch <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Germany swam a 2:08.98. <\/span><b>Dmitriy Balandin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Kazakhstan will be sixth tonight with his 2:09.00. He will be followed by <\/span><b>Kevin Cordes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the United States with a 2:09.30. Japan&#8217;s <\/span><b>Ippei Watanbe <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clocked a 2:09.63.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a new Chinese National record in tow, <\/span><b>Feilian Mao <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will head to semifinals in the ninth spot after posting a 2:09.80, ahead of the USA&#8217;s <\/span><b>Josh Prenot <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2:09.91.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prenot, though, still holds the top time in the world in the event with his 2:07.14 from Olympic Trials last month, and he did not seem phased at all despite not being among the top seeds for the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s prelims. Just gotta be top-16,&#8221; Prenot said. He figures to put his signature closing burst on display in tonight&#8217;s semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finland&#8217;s <\/span><b>Matti Mattsson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:10.09), Sweden&#8217;s <\/span><b>Erik Persson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:10.15) and China&#8217;s <\/span><b>Xiang Li <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:10.17) are 11th through 13th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuela\u2019s <\/span><b>Carlos Claverie <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:10.35), <\/span><b>Craig Benson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:11.19) and Italy\u2019s <\/span><b>Luca Pizzini <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:11.26) will complete tonight\u2019s semifinals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Notably, Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Gyurta\u00a0<\/strong>missed out on a spot in the semifinals.
