The final night of competition at the 2016 Austin Futures Championships concluded amidst the excitement of the Olympics with athletes competing in the 200 fly, 50 free, 200 breast, 100 back, and 400 free.<\/p>\n
Kara Eisenmann<\/strong> kickstarted the session with a dynamic win in the women’s 200 fly. Eisenmann finished more than three seconds ahead of the competition to stop the clock at a 2:13.92.\u00a0Rebecca Brandt<\/strong> (2:17.13) and\u00a0Grace Ritch\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.21) delivered close times for second and third.<\/p>\n Dropping more than three seconds off his prelims time of 2:06.82,\u00a0Frank Niziolek\u00a0<\/strong>took first in the men’s 200 fly with a final time of 2:03.54.\u00a0Brayden Love<\/strong> picked up second with a 2:05.13, while\u00a0Conner Ripp<\/strong> was third with a 2:05.22.<\/p>\n As is typical in the 50 free the win came down to the very finish with\u00a0Amanda Armstrong<\/strong> and\u00a0Anna Miller<\/strong> posting times .02 seconds apart. Armstrong got her hand to the wall first to finish with a 26.35 over Miller’s 26.37.\u00a0Laurel Eiber\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a 26.47.<\/p>\n Jack Dolan<\/strong> led a strong heat of 23’s in the men’s 50 free, grabbing the gold with a final 23.39.\u00a0Griffin Eiber\u00a0<\/strong>took second overall with a 23.48, just ahead of\u00a0Shaine Casas’<\/strong> 23.57.<\/p>\n Lauren Savoy<\/strong> led the way in the women’s 200 breast posting a final time of 2:36.06, 3.30 seconds faster than her prelims time. Teammate\u00a0Emma Garfield\u00a0<\/strong>picked up a close second with a 2:36.86, while\u00a0Mary Jania<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 2:38.03.<\/p>\n On the men’s side it was\u00a0Tristen Disibio\u00a0<\/strong>claiming the win. Disibio stopped the clock at a 2:18.38 to scratch some major time off his prelims swim of 2:23.53. Big time-drops followed by Nicholas Theunissen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.12) and\u00a0Hudson Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.55).<\/p>\n Laine Reed\u00a0<\/strong>led the way in the women’s 100 back, turning in a final time of 1:03.70 for the win. Second went to\u00a0Lindsay Heiferich\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.22) and third was picked up by\u00a0Astrid Dirkzwager<\/strong> (1:04.37).<\/p>\n A duo of 57’s highlighted the men’s 100 back.\u00a0John Colin<\/strong> got the best of\u00a0Sean Grieshop<\/strong> to take first with a 57.57. Grieshop settled for second and a 57.78.\u00a0Ethan Kramer<\/strong> was third with a 58.22.<\/p>\n Perhaps stealing inspiration from Olympian\u00a0Katie Ledecky,\u00a0<\/strong>Victoria Edwards<\/strong> swam ahead of the competition in the women’s 400 free to finish close to two seconds faster than the rest. Edwards clocked a 4:19.42, ahead of second place\u00a0Caitlin Clements\u00a0<\/strong>(4:21.26).<\/p>\n Alexander Zettle\u00a0<\/strong>outlasted the competition in the men’s 400 free, turning in a final time of 3:57.71.
