The Americans, swimming in lane one of the second heat after missing the final in the event at last year&#8217;s World Championships, will go lead off with\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Feigen<\/strong>, a member of the silver medal-winning squad from London four years ago, and then go with Olympic rookies\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni\u00a0<\/strong>on the middle legs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthony Ervin<\/strong>, swimming in his third Olympic Games and a member of the U.S. silver medal-winning squad all the way back in 2000, swims the anchor leg.<\/p>\n<p>Australia rests 100 free world No. 1 and individual gold medal favorite <strong>Cameron McEvoy\u00a0<\/strong>in prelims. Their squad will feature\u00a0<strong>James Magnussen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>James Roberts\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Matt Abood<\/strong>. The Aussies also missed out on the final of the event last summer. The Magnussen-led team was favored for gold four years ago in London but ended up fourth.<\/p>\n<p>The French, undefeated since their gold medal win in the event in 2012, will rest\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Stravius\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong> in prelims. Their foursome will feature\u00a0<strong>Clement Mignon<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>William Meynard<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Fabien Gilot<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Mehdy Metella<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>All three of those high-powered squads will swim in heat two. Heat one figures to be led by the Russians, who have\u00a0<strong>Andrey Grechin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alexander Popkov<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Danila Izotov\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Alexander Sukhorukov<\/strong> swimming in prelim.\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>figures to join them in finals.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable legs include\u00a0<strong>Santo Condorelli<\/strong> leading off for Canada and\u00a0<strong>Marcelo Cherighini<\/strong> starting off the home favorite Brazilians.
