The field of eight will battle for the first swimming medals available in Rio.<\/p>\n<p>A tight field heads into finals of the men&#8217;s 400 freestyle, where three more medals are on the line. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sun Yang\u00a0<\/strong>is the reigning Olympic champion in this event and will be looking to sneak past the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Conor Dwyer&#8217;s<\/strong> strong preliminary showing.<\/p>\n<p>In tonight&#8217;s third final, Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu <\/strong>will look to\u00a0challenge the 400 IM world record again, while\u00a0<strong>Maya DiRado<\/strong> of the USA and\u00a0<strong>Mireia Belmonte\u00a0<\/strong>of Spain will aim to close the gap.<\/p>\n<p>This morning the Australian women set an Olympic record, and only finished a second and a half shy of the world record in the 400 freestyle relay. That mark could be on notice again, especially with the addition of\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong>.
