Last weekend when the first countries had an opportunity to move into the Olympic Village the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/athlete-housing-in-rio-officially-opens-australia-refuses-to-check-in\/\" target=\"_blank\">Australian Olympic team refused to move in<\/a>, citing &#8220;blocked toilets, leaking pipes, and exposed wiring&#8221; as just some of the problems in the Village.<\/p>\n<p>The Aussie&#8217;s are now expected to move in on soon\u00a0as it has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/olympics\/36879349\" target=\"_blank\">reported <\/a>that their problems were fixed and work on the Village has been occurring round the clock.<\/p>\n<p>Several countries have since expressed problems with the athlete dorms in Rio, including Belarus, Kenya, Sweden, and Argentina. Similar to the Aussies, the women&#8217;s Swedish soccer team\u00a0refused to move in after seeing the state of the apartments, leaving the Village by taxi.<\/p>\n<p>In a report by\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2016\/jul\/25\/rio-2016-olympic-officials-athletes-village-unfinished\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>&#8220;19 of the 31 buildings in the Olympic Village have not passed safety tests.&#8221; Spokesman for the Rio Olympics,\u00a0<strong>Mario Andrada<\/strong>, commented that &#8220;this should have been tested a long time ago.
