The first night of action featured prelims\u00a0of the women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s 200 freestyle relays and timed finals of the 1500 freestyles.<\/p>\n<p>The last event of the night was the most exciting. Cheshire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Karl Bishop\u00a0<\/strong>won the men&#8217;s 1500 for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sean-workman-among-winners-in-day-two-of-2015-ymca-long-course-national-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\">second summer in a row<\/a>. Tonight he posted a 15:35.36, 12 seconds better than he was last year. It was a battle to the finish though. Fifteen year old\u00a0<strong>Ross Dant\u00a0<\/strong>of Hickory touched second in 15:36.77. Wilton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Robby Giller\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 15:42.97.<\/p>\n<p>Hickory&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emmaline Peterson\u00a0<\/strong>finished five seconds short of the women&#8217;s 1500 YMCA National record with a 16:45.63. She crushed the field however, as Bosie&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abbey Erwin\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 17:05.24. There was another large drop off to third place. North Shore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicole Welch\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze in 17:21.40.<\/p>\n<p>Fanwood Scotch Plains took the top seed in\u00a0the first event of the week.\u00a0<strong>Marlise Moesch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sarah Davis<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Darlene Fung<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Amanda Banasiak\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a 1:46.29 in the 200 freestyle relay. That time was just faster than Cheshire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Boyer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brooke Perrotta<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Tyler<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Tara Tiernan\u00a0<\/strong>who finished in 1:46.94. Third seed\u00a0went to Red Bank&#8217;s <strong>Ginger Hansen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Megan Judge<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Karin Schienvar<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Shoshana Swell<\/strong>\u00a0in 1:47.51.<\/p>\n<p>The men from Upper Main Line took\u00a0the week&#8217;s first relay top spot by over a second.\u00a0<strong>Sam Hawke<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brian McKenrick<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brendan Burns<\/strong>, an\u00a0<strong>Billy Beard\u00a0<\/strong>will return first to tomorrow&#8217;s finals with a 1:35.71. Grove City&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marcus Swartfager<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will Rastatter<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Devin Reynolds<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Austin Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>posted a second seeded 1:36.90.
