{"id":213840,"date":"2016-07-26T06:41:27","date_gmt":"2016-07-26T13:41:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=213840"},"modified":"2016-07-26T06:41:27","modified_gmt":"2016-07-26T13:41:27","slug":"fina-president-julio-maglione-criticizes-wada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-president-julio-maglione-criticizes-wada\/","title":{"rendered":"FINA President Julio Maglione Criticizes WADA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-officially-pulls-yulia-efimova-six-other-russians-from-rio-games-in-accordance-with-ioc-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\">FINA announced<\/a> that seven Russian swimmers would not be eligible to swim in Rio, in response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ioc-releases-conditions-for-russian-participation-in-rio-olympics-avoids-full-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\">IOC&#8217;s decision<\/a> to making doping bans the responsibility of\u00a0International Federations.<\/p>\n<p>Today, FINA President\u00a0<strong>Julio Maglione\u00a0<\/strong>expressed his unhappiness with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/what-the-independent-investigation-into-russias-systematic-doping-program-means-to-swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\">McLaren Report<\/a> and WADA to\u00a0Sputnik News. Despite what he views as overstepping by WADA, he did note that he thinks the IOC made a fair decision.<\/p>\n<p>Maglione\u00a0said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Its [commission] members exceeded their powers.
