World champion and newly-minted Olympian,\u00a0Cody Miller<\/strong>, has put forth some eye-catching performances in recent history. From setting NAG\u00a0records as a teenager to becoming the reigning national champion in the 100 breaststroke, Miller seems to keep steadily improving. At Olympic Trials in Omaha last month, Miller earned his Olympic berth<\/a> by finishing second to\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

Here are some things you may not know about the Olympic rookie…<\/p>\n

1. He’s making Indiana University history.<\/h2>\n

Miller, a former Indiana University student-athlete, is part of a tribe of IU swimmers becoming the first Hoosiers to\u00a0make it onto a U.S. Olympic team in 40 years. Breaststroker\u00a0Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>and freestyler Blake Pieroni\u00a0<\/strong>also added to Hoosier history by securing slots on the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team.\u00a0The Hoosiers sent Jim Montgomery\u00a0<\/strong>to the Olympics back in 1976 where he became the first man to swim the 100-meter freestyle in under 50 seconds. IU Head Coach\u00a0Ray Looze<\/strong>\u00a0speaks highly of Miller saying that he has coached very few people that have the passion and determination that Miller possesses.<\/p>\n

2. He is sponsored by TYR.<\/h2>\n

At the end of 2015, Cody Miller\u00a0signed with TYR<\/a>,\u00a0adding to the company’s list of talented athletes. The announcement of his professional sponsorship came a week after Miller set two American records<\/a> (200 SCM breaststroke and 100 SCM breaststroke) at the 2015 Duel In the Pool. It was a good week to be Cody Miller!<\/p>\n

3. He has overcome physical obstacles.<\/h2>\n

Miller started swimming when he was 8 years old to help monitor his heart and breathing because of a medical condition called pectus excavatum (sunk-in chest). As it turned out, Miller was a natural and continued to swim, showing tremendous breaststroke talent early in his career.<\/p>\n

4. He was featured on the cover of the January’s issue of\u00a0Swimming World Magazine<\/em>.<\/h2>\n

Miller recently stole the cover\u00a0of the January 2016 Swimming World Magazine<\/em>\u00a0issue after stealing the show at December’s Duel in the Pool.
