﻿{"id":213522,"date":"2016-07-22T19:08:43","date_gmt":"2016-07-23T02:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=213522"},"modified":"2016-07-22T19:14:47","modified_gmt":"2016-07-23T02:14:47","slug":"213522-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/213522-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenisha Liu Wins Her Third Individual Event on Day 2 in Roseville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With an exciting start to the night, the women&#8217;s 200 meter free took off with the top three all finishing within about a half second of each other. \u00a0<strong>Mckenna Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>stole first with a best time of 2:03.31, while\u00a0<strong>Liberty Gilbert\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Halladay Kinsey\u00a0<\/strong>for second. \u00a0Gilbert clocked in a time of 2:03.89 and Kinsey finished at 2:03.93.<\/p>\n<p>As for the\u00a0men&#8217;s 200 meter free, it was another close race tonight with\u00a0<strong>Michael Tenney\u00a0<\/strong>out touching\u00a0<strong>Matthew Elkington\u00a0<\/strong>for the win. \u00a0Tenney finished with a best time of 1:54.20, while Elkington was right behind him at 1:54.60. Behind Elkington,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Ilin\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a best time of 1:55.62.<\/p>\n<p>After going into the finals as the third seed,\u00a0<strong>Kenisha Liu\u00a0<\/strong>had her third\u00a0individual win of the meet, finishing\u00a0first in the women&#8217;s 400 meter IM with a time of 4:47.77. After taking the lead right from the start, Liu\u00a0never let up on the rest of the final heat. <strong>Mckenna Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>touched second behind Liu with a best time of 4:49.83.<\/p>\n<p>Battling from behind,\u00a0<strong>Hunter Lane\u00a0<\/strong>had an amazing last hundred in the men&#8217;s\u00a0400 meter IM to steal the win with a time of 4:36.80. \u00a0After leading the race until the final 50 meters,\u00a0<strong>Ike Shirakata\u00a0<\/strong>touched second behind Lane with a best time of 4:38.00. Shirakata touched just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Daniel Marella\u00a0<\/strong>who also finished with a best time of 4:38.00.<\/p>\n<p>Moving on to the women&#8217;s 100 meter back,\u00a0<strong>Colleen Humel\u00a0<\/strong>crushed the final heat\u00a0tonight, dropping a second from her preliminary time and clocking in a time of 1:03.54. \u00a0<strong>Madison Frederick\u00a0<\/strong>touched\u00a0second behind Humel with a time of 1:04.27, out touching\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Crisera\u00a0<\/strong>who finished third at 1:04.46.<\/p>\n<p>As the final individual event of the night,\u00a0<strong>Shayne Fleming\u00a0<\/strong>stole the win in the men&#8217;s 100 meter back with a time of 58.04. \u00a0<strong>Payton Sorenson\u00a0<\/strong>was second behind Fleming at 58.67, while\u00a0<strong>Steven Medvedev\u00a0<\/strong>finished third clocking in a time of 59.12.<\/p>\n<p>With the 400 meter free relays left to finish the night, after battling the Marin Pirates the entire\u00a0race, the women&#8217;s A relay for Brea Aquatics finished first\u00a0with a time of 3:52.02. \u00a0Marin Pirates A relay was second, clocking in at 3:52.70, followed by Davis Arden Racing team who touched at 3:53.68.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, it was a tight race until the final hundred, when the A relay for Tiger Aquatics pulled ahead of the top seed De Anza Cupertino Aquatics. \u00a0Tiger Aquatics finished first at 3:29.58, with their anchor Miles Mackenzie splitting a blazing 50.63 to beat De Anza Cupertino Aquatics who finished second at\u00a03:30.76.<\/p>\n<p>Day three of the Roseville Sectionals continues tomorrow with the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s 200 meter back, 100 meter breast, 100 meter fly and 400 meter free.<\/p>\n<p><em>All results can be found on the Meet Mobile App.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With an exciting start to the night, the women&#8217;s 200 meter free took off with the top three all finishing within about a half second of each other. \u00a0Mckenna Meyer\u00a0stole<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3468,"featured_media":147302,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"dois","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[49262,7],"tags":[56969,31778,41744],"class_list":["post-213522","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-meet-recaps","category-usa","tag-2016-speedo-sectionals-roseville","tag-kenisha-liu","tag-sectionals"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.3 (Yoast SEO v24.3) -
