{"id":213385,"date":"2016-07-21T17:58:28","date_gmt":"2016-07-22T00:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=213385"},"modified":"2016-07-21T18:01:35","modified_gmt":"2016-07-22T01:01:35","slug":"lindsey-clary-and-the-ohio-state-swim-club-women-add-to-their-success-on-day-2-of-the-columbus-sectionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lindsey-clary-and-the-ohio-state-swim-club-women-add-to-their-success-on-day-2-of-the-columbus-sectionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Lindsey Clary and the Ohio State Swim Club Women Add to Their Success on Night 2 in Columbus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">After a strong showing on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/day-1-prelims-recap-ohio-speedo-sectionals\/\" target=\"_blank\">first day<\/a>, the Ohio State Swim Club\u00a0women were not quite as dominate tonight, but still had strong\u00a0wins in the 400 meter IM and 400 meter free relay during the day 2 finals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The night consisted of many close races, which started off with the women&#8217;s 200 meter free where <strong>Zoe Thatcher<\/strong> beat out <strong>Sophie Skinner<\/strong> of the Northern Kentucky Clippers by a little over half a second. Thatcher clocked in a time of 2:02.86 while Skinner finished at 2:03.41. <strong>Katherine Trace<\/strong> of Upper Arlington Swim Club touched third shortly after Skinner\u00a0at 2:04.47.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">As for the men&#8217;s 200 meter free, <strong>Joshua Fleagle<\/strong> touched first a full second ahead of <strong>Brendan Meyer<\/strong>, finishing at 1:50.20, while Meyer touched at 1:51.27. <strong>Nicholas Smith<\/strong>, Meyer&#8217;s teammate at the Clippers was third at 1:52.22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The 100 meter fly took off after the 200 meter free, with <strong>Aliena Schmidtke<\/strong> dropping a second and a half off her preliminary time to win the women&#8217;s event at 59.68. <strong>Erin Sheehan<\/strong> of Upper Arlington Swim Club finished second behind Schmidtke at 1:00.70, nearly a second ahead of <strong>Ragen Engel<\/strong> who finished with a best time of 1:01.63.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong>\u00a0of Club Wolverine finished the night with a win and a best time in the 100 meter fly, touching at 54.40. <strong>Gregory Nymberg<\/strong>\u00a0of the Ohio State Swim Club finished second behind Craig at 54.91, just ahead of <strong>Brendan Meyer <\/strong>of the Northern Kentucky Clippers\u00a0who touched third at 55.27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Ohio State Swim Club women had their strongest showing of the night in the women&#8217;s 400 meter IM with <strong>Lindsey Clary<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Meg Bailey\u00a0<\/strong>dominating the final heat by over 11 seconds. Clary had her second individual win of the meet, touching at 4:45.49, while Bailey finished right behind her at 4:46.36.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The outside smoker in the final heat of the men&#8217;s 400 meter IM,\u00a0<strong>Austin Quinn<\/strong>, raced to the wall fist dropping eight seconds from his preliminary swim to post a time of 4:25.81. <strong>Antonio Ramirez<\/strong>, the\u00a0top seed going into finals, finished second behind Quinn at 4:26.91. <strong>Andrew Lindstorm\u00a0<\/strong>of the Ohio State Swim Club touched third in the heat with a best time of 4:30.40.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">To finish up the night, the final heat of the women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s 400 meter free relay took place. The OSSC women cruised to first once again, finishing at 3:51.34. \u00a0The Mason Manta Rays were right behind them at 3:52.37, while Firestone Akron Swim Team touched third at 3:53.17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">In\u00a0the men&#8217;s 400 meter free relay, the Ohio State Swim Club dominated the event, with the A relay winning by eight seconds and posting a time of 3:22.70.
