This was the longest distance after Sunday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ferry-weertman-wins-mens-race-women-tie-for-gold-in-european-open-water-10k\/\" target=\"_blank\">10K<\/a>, Tuesday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/danielle-huskisson-kirill-abrosimov-win-european-open-water-5k-races\/\" target=\"_blank\">5K<\/a>, and Wednesday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/italians-top-team-5k-at-european-open-water-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\">Team 5K<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After a nearly five and a half hour race, the women&#8217;s top three finishers were less than three seconds apart, with another two swimmers just seven more seconds behind. Gold went to\u00a0<strong>Martina Grimaldi\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy\u00a0in 5:26:47.8.\u00a0<strong>Olga Kozydub\u00a0<\/strong>of Russia claimed silver in 5:26:49.8.
