That time sits just behind her seventh ranked 24.45 from the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Series.<\/p>\n<p>After clocking the top two times in last night&#8217;s 100 freestyle, sprint superstars\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> continued to dazzle with a sprint battle in heat 17. Manuel got her hand a shy .01 ahead of Weitzeil to grab the second-place seed going into tonight&#8217;s semi-final with a 24.57. Weitzeil returns as third with a 24.58.<\/p>\n<p>Newly minted Olympian\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the fourth place seed with a time of 24.78, while\u00a0<strong>Katrina Konopka\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth overall with a 24.90.<\/p>\n<p>Three-time Olympian\u00a0<strong>Dana Vollmer<\/strong> finished sixth in prelims with a 24.96 to be the last athlete under the 25-second mark.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ivy Martin<\/strong> (25.05) and\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> (25.12) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amanda Weir<\/strong> (25.15),\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal\u00a0<\/strong>(25.16),\u00a0<strong>Maddie Locus<\/strong> (25.27),\u00a0<strong>Katie Meili<\/strong> (25.37),\u00a0<strong>Anika Apostalon<\/strong> (25.43),\u00a0<strong>Taylor Schick<\/strong> (25.48),\u00a0<strong>Caitlin Cooper<\/strong> (25.51) and\u00a0<strong>Anya Goeders<\/strong> (25.53) return as the 9-16 for tonight&#8217;s semi-finals.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 1500 Free:<\/h3>\n<p>Club Wolverine&#8217;s <strong>Connor<\/strong> <strong>Jaeger\u00a0<\/strong>held a decisive lead throughout the final heat the men&#8217;s 1500 free to become the only swimmer under the 15-minute mark. Jaeger, the American Record holder in this event with a 14:41.20, stopped the clock at a decisive 14:58.59 to qualify almost seven seconds ahead of the rest of the field for tomorrow&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jordan Wilimovsky,\u00a0<\/strong>who has already earned an Olympic berth in the 10K Open Water race, finished second overall in prelims with a 15:05.89 from heat nine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael McBroom<\/strong>, swimming in the same heat as Jaeger, did his best to hang close to the American Record holder finishing third overall with a 15:07.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.J. Ransford<\/strong> picked up a fourth place seed for tomorrow&#8217;s finals with a time of 15:09.04, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe&#8217;s<\/strong> 15:11.72.<\/p>\n<p>The young <strong>Robert Finke\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the sixth place seed with a 15:!5.52.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clark Smith <\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Chris Wieser<\/strong> posted times of 15:17.10 and 15:17.51 respectively for seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along live with day\u00a0seven prelims\u00a0of the 2016 USA Swimming Trials.\u00a0Hit refresh for the latest coverage.
