The event commenced yesterday, Thursday June 30,\u00a0and will be completed\u00a0Saturday evening, July 3. The Trials features swims from athletes across a range of classification categories.<\/p>\n<p>Over 400 athletes are competing in this year\u2019s Paralympic Trials, with the hope of representing Team USA at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games (September 7 \u2013 18), following the 2016 Olympic Games (August 5 \u2013 21). Four women and three men will represent the U.S. at the Rio\u00a0Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>Note: The Paralympic classification system for athletes competing in swimming is coded with an S followed by a number. A swimmer competing in a lower number category indicates that they have a physical impairment that has more impact on their ability to compete in swimming. For example, a swimmer in the S2 category has more severe activity limitation in the water than a swimmer in the S14 category. A more detailed description of the classification system <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/swimming\/classification\">can be found here.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tonight&#8217;s Timeline Is As Follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2016-us-paralympic-trials-day-2-finals-day-2-paralympic-2016-06-30.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Tonight&#8217;s full results available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50m back (S1-S5)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alyssa Gialamas,\u00a0<\/strong>the top seed coming into tonight&#8217;s final, touched the wall first with a best time of 47.47 dropping a second from her preliminary swim. \u00a0<strong>Haley Beranbaum\u00a0<\/strong>finished second behind Gialamas and was just off her best time, swimming a 1:00.58. \u00a0<strong>Victoria BeeIner\u00a0<\/strong>was third in the event, and was right at her preliminary time, finishing at 1:16.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50m back (S1-S5)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American Record holder in the event, <strong>Michael DeMarco\u00a0<\/strong>(S3), was the top finisher overall in the event with a time of 1:02.38, dropping from his preliminary swim, but still slightly off his best time. \u00a0<strong>Carson Tueller\u00a0<\/strong>(S4) was also just off his best, posting a 1:04.83;\u00a0<strong>Curtis Lovejoy<\/strong>\u00a0was also just off his preliminary time, swimming\u00a0a 1:17.12.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100m fly (S8-S13)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Record holder in the event,\u00a0<strong>Jessica Long\u00a0<\/strong>(S8) was the top seed going into tonight&#8217;s finals for her class, and finished\u00a0a second faster than her preliminary time at 1:11.75. \u00a0<strong>Mallory Weggemann\u00a0<\/strong>(S8) was behind her at 1:18.98, dropping a second from her best time. \u00a0<strong>Brickele Bro\u00a0<\/strong>(1:31.00) and\u00a0<strong>Nelya Stary Schasfoort\u00a0<\/strong>(1:31.57) both dropped over 2 seconds from their preliminary swims.<\/p>\n<p>American Record holder in the event,\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Meyers\u00a0<\/strong>(S13), dropped a second from the preliminary session, but still was off her best, touching first at a 1:07.02. \u00a0<strong>Savannah Larson\u00a0<\/strong>was the top finisher for the S10 class at 1:44.10, and American Record holder in the event,\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Smith<\/strong>, was the top finisher for the S9 class. \u00a0Smith dropped a little from her preliminary swim, but was still off her best time by about a second.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 100m fly (S8-S13)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American Record holder in the event,\u00a0<strong>Ian Silverman\u00a0<\/strong>(S10), was the top seed going into tonight&#8217;s final, but came up short, posting a time of 1:09.55. \u00a0<strong>Dalton Herendeen\u00a0<\/strong>(S10) finished first with a time of 1:03.58, adding just a touch off his best this morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bradley Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>was the top finisher for (S11) dropping almost three seconds to post a best time of 1:05.30. \u00a0<strong>Evan Austin\u00a0<\/strong>(S8) who was the top seed going into finals, dropped over a second from his preliminary swim to post a best time as the top finisher from his class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Gelfand\u00a0<\/strong>(S9) of WAHO was just off his best time again, going a 1:13.73, but was able to repeat his morning swim to win his class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50m fly (S1-S7)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The top finishers from all three classes competing in this event posted times that were faster than their preliminary swims. \u00a0<strong>Haley Beranbaum\u00a0<\/strong>(S5) was slightly off her all time best, but improved her morning swim to go a 53.40. \u00a0<strong>Noga Nir-Kristler\u00a0<\/strong>(S6) also was slightly off her best, but dropped from her morning swim to touch the wall at 41.22.<\/p>\n<p>As for the S7 class, <strong>Cortney Jordan<\/strong>, the top seed going into finals, posted a best time of 35.66, dropping a second from her prelim swim.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50m fly (S1-S7)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American Record holder\u00a0<strong>Roy Perkins Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>(S5) was still off his all time best, but was able to drop time from his morning swim to touch the wall at 35.23.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connor Gioffreda\u00a0<\/strong>(S6) was the top seed going into finals, but was also slightly off his best posting a time of 36.60.<\/p>\n<p>As for the S7 class,\u00a0<strong>Lucas McCrory\u00a0<\/strong>from YOTA was able to drop from his morning swim, cruising to the wall first at 35.50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50m free (S1-S13)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After missing\u00a0the World Record in the 50 free during the prelims,\u00a0<strong>Martha Reuther<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(S9) was out touched by <strong>Colleen Young\u00a0<\/strong>(S9)\u00a0to break the World Record with a time of 28.54. \u00a0Ruether still posted a best time of 28.62, also breaking the previous World Record.<\/p>\n<p>The lone entrants for their classes\u00a0<strong>Letticia Martinex\u00a0<\/strong>(S11) and\u00a0<strong>Laurrie McClain Hermes\u00a0<\/strong>(S12) both swam around their preliminary times, Martinez dropping half a second to go 34.06 and Hermes adding a little to go 34.59.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martha Reuther\u00a0<\/strong>(S13) broke the World and American Records that she set this morning by dropping .13 to go 28.24.<\/p>\n<p>American Record holder for the event in her class,\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Gialamas\u00a0<\/strong>(S5), dropped time from her preliminary swim going a 47.02, but was still off her record of 44.03.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noga Nir-Kistler<\/strong>\u00a0(S6)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>dropped a second and a half from her preliminary time to cruise to a best time of 36.53.\u00a0<strong>McKenzie Coan\u00a0<\/strong>(S7)\u00a0also garnered a best time by finishing at 32.68.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50m free (S1-S13)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After just missing the American Record during the prelim session, <strong>Zach Shattuck\u00a0<\/strong>(S6) added a little from his morning time, to miss the record again finishing at 32.92.<\/p>\n<p>As for the current American Record holders in the event\u00a0<strong>Ian Silverman\u00a0<\/strong>(S10),\u00a0<strong>Bradley Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>(S11) and\u00a0<strong>Tucker Dupree\u00a0<\/strong>(S12) all posted the fastest times for their classes. \u00a0Dupree broke his own American Record to post a time of 24.03, but both Silverman and Snyder were off their best times, touching the wall at 25.51 and 26.62 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Dupree,\u00a0<strong>Noah Scherf\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Michael DeMarco\u00a0<\/strong>were the only entrants in their classes and both dropped from their preliminary times to go 58.04 and 31.44 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>After a close race in prelims,\u00a0<strong>Lander Eicholzer\u00a0<\/strong>(S8) was the top seed going into finals, but this race was out touched by <strong>Evan Austin\u00a0<\/strong>who won the S8 class with a time of 30.23. \u00a0Eicholzer still posted a best time of 30.47 to place second in his class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Refresh the page to see
