Josh Prenot<\/strong>\u00a0punched his ticket to Rio by winning the men\u2019s 200 breast, stopping the clock in 2:07.17.<\/p>\n

His time ranks him first in the world this year and is the second fastest of all time behind world record holder\u00a0Akihiro\u00a0Yamaguchi\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>2:07.01.<\/p>\n

His time clipped\u00a0Eric Shanteau\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0American record of 2:07.42 set back in 2009. He also broke\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0U.S. Open record of 2:07.81 set yesterday during semifinals. Cordes, who will also represent Team USA in the 100 breast, finished second in 2:08.00.<\/p>\n

This win marks Prenot’s first Olympic berth.\u00a0He\u00a0also finished third in the 100 breast this week in Omaha.<\/p>\n

The first-time Olympian talked to the media about staying relaxed during his race, picking up his pace, and the future of breaststroke for American men.<\/p>\n
