Women’s 100 Freestyle Semifinals<\/strong><\/p>\nThis morning short course American record holder\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>was the top qualifier with a 53.58. That swim moved her up to ninth in the world this year. Tonight she swam a 53.57, .01 faster.<\/p>\nComing off her redshirt year at Stanford, Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>won the first semifinal in 53.64, moving her to 11th in the world this year.<\/p>\nAmerican record holder Amanda Weir\u00a0<\/strong>swam a second seeded 53.76 this morning. That was her fastest time swum in seven years. Tonight the 30 year old swam a 53.72. She’ll be the third seed for finals.<\/p>\nDana Vollmer\u00a0<\/strong>appears on track to earn a second swim in Rio. She touched fourth tonight in 53.74.<\/p>\n2012 Olympian\u00a0Lia Neal\u00a0<\/strong>was a 53.87 for the fifth spot. After winning the 100 butterfly,\u00a0Kelsi Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 54.00 to return to tomorrow night’s finals.<\/p>\nAfter securing 200 freestyle individual swims,\u00a0Missy Franklin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>brought the distance down and the speed up. For Ledecky, it worked out as she’ll be the seventh seed with a 54.04. Franklin wound up 11th and out of the final in an event in which she had an individual berth in 2012.<\/p>\nAllison Schmitt\u00a0<\/strong>was the last swimmer into tomorrow night with a 54.07.<\/p>\nMadison Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>will now put it all on the line in the 50 freestyle after touching in 54.18 for ninth tonight.<\/p>\nOlivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>qualified for Rio Tuesday night in the 100 backstroke. Tonight she came up short of a second swim with a 54.21.<\/p>\nMallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>(54.61),\u00a0Shannon Vreeland\u00a0<\/strong>(54.83),\u00a0Natalie Coughlin\u00a0<\/strong>(54.87),\u00a0Margo Geer\u00a0<\/strong>(54.91), and\u00a0Kirsten Vose\u00a0<\/strong>(55.18) also failed to advance.<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-30-at-8.20.24-PM-700x500.png\")

Men’s 200 Backstroke Semifinal<\/strong><\/p>\nCal’s\u00a0Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jacob Pebley\u00a0<\/strong>were out fast in the second semifinal. Murphy charged home on the final 50 to pass his teammate and touch first in 1:55.04. That is the fifth best time in the world this year, just off his season’s best 1:54.94. Pebley touched in 1:55.18 for the second spot.<\/p>\nAfter the first few days of Trials did not go how he likely envisioned, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist\u00a0Tyler Clary\u00a0<\/strong>won the first semifinal in 1:55.92. That makes him third for tomorrow’s final.<\/p>\nPanAmerican gold medalist\u00a0Sean Lehane\u00a0<\/strong>clocked a 1:56.43 for the fourth seed overall.<\/p>\nSeventeen year old\u00a0Michael Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>hung with Clary for most of that race and finished third in his heat with a 1:56.78. He was also just .01 faster than the Junior World Record. Li Guangyuan\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:56.79 in August.\u00a0That time earns Taylor a lane in tomorrow’s final as well.<\/p>\nAustin Katz <\/strong>swam a\u00a01:57.72 to earn the sixth seed.\u00a0Robert Owen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.79) and\u00a0Hennessey Stuart\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.20) complete tomorrow night’s final.<\/p>\nPatrick Mulcare\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.74),\u00a0Jake Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.83),\u00a0Joey Reilman\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.04),\u00a0Tristan Sanders\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.68),\u00a0Drew Cosgarea\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.96) and\u00a0Cole Bateman\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.14) also swam tonight.\u00a0Justin Ress\u00a0<\/strong>of the Marlins of Raleigh was disqualified.<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-30-at-8.37.09-PM-700x500.png\")

Women’s 200 Butterfly Semifinal<\/strong><\/p>\nCammile Adams\u00a0<\/strong>will return to the Olympic Games in the 200 butterfly after she touched first in 2:06.80. That time moves her up to seventh in the world this year.<\/p>\nHali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>led at the 100 meter mark. She added to the Georgia Bulldogs extraordinary success this week with a second place finish. She touched in 2:07.50.<\/p>\nSixteen year old\u00a0Cassidy Bayer\u00a0<\/strong>of Nations Capital wound up third with a 2:08.68.<\/p>\nRuby Martin\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 2:09.96.\u00a0Christina Bechtel\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth with a 2:10.54.<\/p>\nKatie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>came up short of an Olympic berth after recovering from a neck injury all spring. Men’s 100 Freestyle Finals<\/strong><\/p>\n2012 Olympic gold medalist\u00a0Nathan Adrian\u00a0<\/strong>was unbelievable on the final 50 to finish in 47.72. That was an improvement on his world’s second best time this year and the fastest of this final by over a half second.<\/p>\nShort course star\u00a0Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>lunged into the finish to get second in 48.23 and earn an individual swim in Rio. That was just .03 ahead of\u00a0Ryan Held.\u00a0<\/strong>Held\u00a0dropped nearly a second in prelims and has shown that swim was not a fluke. He posted a 48.26 to secure a relay berth.<\/p>\nVeteran\u00a0Anthony Ervin\u00a0<\/strong>led at the 50 meter mark and the field tracked him down, but he touched in fourth. That 48.54 was still good for a trip to Rio.<\/p>\nJimmy Feigen\u00a0<\/strong>should be taken on the relay after finishing fifth in 48.57. Women’s 200 Breaststroke Semifinals<\/strong><\/p>\nShort course American record holder\u00a0Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>made winning the first semifinal look easy with a 2:24.03.\u00a0Micah Lawrence\u00a0<\/strong>led the second semifinal at the halfway mark and came home strong. She touched in 2:24.66 for the second seed.<\/p>\nMolly Hannis <\/strong>hung just behind\u00a0Lawrence\u00a0the whole way. She’ll return in third tomorrow night with a 2:24.91.<\/p>\nIn fourth\u00a0was\u00a0Bethany Galat\u00a0<\/strong>with a 2:25.25.\u00a0With a strong final 50 meters\u00a0Melanie Margalis <\/strong>finished in 2:26.53.<\/p>\nSarah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>is still taking aim at Rio with a 2:26.57 tonight. That time makes her sixth.\u00a0Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>will also have a lane in tomorrow night’s finals after touching in 2:26.68.\u00a0Emma Schoettmer\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 2:26.75 to earn the final spot.<\/p>\nEmma Reaney\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.97) and Emily Escobedo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:27.03) were ninth and tenth.<\/p>\n2012 Olympian\u00a0Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>will not be attending a second Games after finishing 11th in 2:27.43 tonight.<\/p>\nTaylor Vargo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:27.99),\u00a0Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.17),\u00a0Andee Cottrell\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.26),\u00a0Laura Sogar\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.61), and\u00a0Olivia Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:31.08) also competed in tonight’s semifinals.<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-30-at-9.11.58-PM-700x500.png\")

Men’s 200 IM Semifinal<\/strong><\/p>\nIn the first semifinal of the 200 IM Michael Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>went into the first wall with a lead and then just built on it. He was able to cruise into the finish and won the first semifinal in 1:57.61, the third best in the world this year.<\/p>\nWorld record holder\u00a0Ryan Lochte\u00a0<\/strong>then stepped up into the second semifinal. He\u00a0put up the fastest time of the morning and then led his heat into the first turn as well. Lochte finished nearly a second ahead of Phelps, posting a 1:56.71, the second best time in the world this year, bumping Phelps to fourth.<\/p>\nFellow NBAC swimmer\u00a0David Nolan\u00a0<\/strong>swam on Phelps’ heels with a 1:58.16 for the third seed overall.<\/p>\nGunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:59.38 for fourth.\u00a0Abrahm Devine\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.43) took fifth.<\/p>\nMichael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>tied the Junior World Record with a 1:59.44. He now shares the mark with\u00a0Bentz who swam the mark in August 2013 when he was still eligible.<\/p>\nAfter already securing his spot in the 400 IM,\u00a0Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.53) took seventh.<\/p>\nAndrew Seliskar <\/strong>snuck into the final in 1:59.86.<\/p>\nAustin Surhoff\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.89) was the last swimmer under two minutes in ninth.<\/p>\nKyle Whitaker\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.57),\u00a0Michael Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.39),\u00a0Max Williamson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.77),\u00a0Adam Hinshaw\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.81),\u00a0Christian McCurdy\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.28),\u00a0Nick Thorne\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.44), and\u00a0Brandon Fiala\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.71) completed the final.<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-30-at-9.34.34-PM-700x500.png\")
