University of Toronto \u2013 High Performance Swimming Center Head Coach Posting<\/b>
\nSwimming \/ Natation Canada, the national governing body for competitive swimming in Canada, is in search of a dynamic Head Coach to fill a new position at the recently developed High Performance Swimming Centre, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON.
\nThis will be a contract position: September 1, 2009 to December 31st, 2012. <\/p>\n
DESCRIPTION:
\nThe key responsibilities will include development and coaching of all facets of the High Performance Swimming Centre. Coaching responsibilities will include both residential program and outreach services for Ontario based national team athletes. The specific target of this position is to develop international medals for Canadian swimming with a priority on Olympic medals. Primary roles and responsibilities are:
\n\u2022\tDevelopment of a Centre residential program.
\n\u2022\tDay-to-day coaching responsibilities for residential\/Centre based athletes.
\n\u2022\tSupervision of the day-to-day activities of the Centre including facility coordination, provincial coach collaboration and other duties as identified.
\n\u2022\tWorking directly with the sport science support staff (Integrated Support Team or I.S.T.) to service both residential and outreach athletes.
\n\u2022\tProvide leadership for National training camp initiatives.
\n\u2022\tIn concert with the CEO \/ National Coach, provide technical development, leadership, direction and management for National Team activities.
\n\u2022\tWork in conjunction with the CEO \/ National Coach to facilitate the progression of targeted coach\/athlete tandems towards short-term and intermediate goals.
\n\u2022\tWork in conjunction with the University of Toronto Coach staff to facilitate the progression of targeted student athletes towards short-term and intermediate goals.
\nAssist the SNC national staff in the:
\n\u2022\tDevelopment and operation of an \u2018outreach' program impacting carded athletes and their coaches external to the Centre residential program.
\n\u2022\tDevelopment of a strategy to host and work with visiting carded athletes and their coaches.
\n\u2022\tAssist in the development of strategies for national and international initiatives, such as camps and clinics.
\n\u2022\tLiaise and consult, when available, with the Swim Ontario Provincial Technical staff on Regional and Provincial technical delivery.
\n\u2022\tAssist the association's development of the Long Term Athlete Development strategy, club development strategies and elite development requirements.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:
\nThe successful applicant will have a demonstrated and proven record of performances at the World Championships and Olympic level. Strong communication and team-building skills are essential and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is critical. A proven self starter and an ability to effect communications is a requirement. An aptitude to educate and mentor will be considered an asset, as will sport administration skills. The ability to communicate effectively in English and French is a preferred asset.<\/p>\n

\n2.\tYou must have a current Canadian passport as of July 8, 2009.
\n3.\tYou must sign off on the 2009 World Aquatic Championships Swimming Team Rules, Regulations and Mandatory Requirements by July 7, 2009.<\/p>\n
