She led the first circle seeded heat at the 50 in 25.77. Her final time was only .21 off her season best.<\/p>\n<p>After showing signs of her sprint speed through all three 200 freestyle swims,\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth this morning in 53.84.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kelsi Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>swam next to her 100 butterfly competition this morning. With a 54.02 she qualified fifth.\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>is shooting for her spot on the 400 freestyle relay with a 54.04, sixth place prelims swim.<\/p>\n<p>2012 Olympian\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal <\/strong>put herself in contention again with a 54.06, good for seventh.\u00a0In her first race of the week,\u00a0<strong>Madison Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 54.24 to enter semifinals in eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming a bit more relaxed after securing an individual swim in Rio,\u00a0<strong>Missy Franklin <\/strong>touched in 54.41 for the ninth seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>had a .04 second drop to take the tenth spot for semifinals.\u00a0<strong>Natalie Coughlin <\/strong>posted a 54.73 this morning in her quest for fourth Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shannon Vreeland\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Margo Geer\u00a0<\/strong>tied for 12th\u00a0in 54.87, just ahead of <strong>Allison Schmitt\u00a0<\/strong>in 54.95.\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>snagged 15th with a 55.15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirsten Vose\u00a0<\/strong>led the way entering the circle seeded heats with a 55.32. This morning he swam\u00a0an incredibly smooth 1:56.29 to improve that time and tie his personal best.<\/p>\n<p>Top seed\u00a0<strong>Tyler Clary\u00a0<\/strong>revived his Olympic dream with a 1:56.85 to take the second spot into semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>entered with the fourth best time in the world this year of 1:54.94. The 25 year old swam a 2:26.27 for the top seed this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bethany Galat\u00a0<\/strong>had an excellent back half and took the second seed in 2:26.72. That was nearly a three second drop.\u00a0<strong>Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 2:27.48.<\/p>\n<p>With an Olympic ticket already booked,\u00a0<strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>returns to semifinals fourth in the 200 breaststroke. The short course American record holder touched in 2:27.55. She led the way at the 100 in 1:10.24.<\/p>\n<p>After finishing third in the 100,\u00a0<strong>Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>is shooting for a spot in the 200. This morning she clocked a 2:27.62 for the fifth seed.\u00a02012 Olympian\u00a0<strong>Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>will return sixth in 2:27.65.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andee Cottrell\u00a0<\/strong>(2:27.67) and Tuscon Ford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Schoettmer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.01) also earned second swims.<\/p>\n<p>2015 national champion\u00a0<strong>Laura Sogar\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 2:28.15, for the ninth spot.\u00a0<strong>Emma Reaney\u00a0<\/strong>followed in 2:28.57.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>was the first swimmer to crack the 2:30 barrier and led the way heading into the circle seeded heats with her 2:28.60. That time held up for 11th overall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>came back from her tough 400 IM finals swim to take the 12th seed in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:28.74.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen year old<strong> Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 2:28.94 in heat ten and also made it back in 13th.\u00a0<strong>Taylor Vargo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:29.98) will be 14th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>has had an impressive meet, and this morning she just slipped into semifinals with a 15th place 2:29.03.\u00a0<strong>Emily Escobedo\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 2:29.12 for the final spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Meili\u00a0<\/strong>entered the event with a season&#8217;s best, world&#8217;s 13th 2:23.69. This morning he clocked a 1:58.95 for the second seed.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Georgia&#8217;s<strong> Gunnar Bentz <\/strong>touched in 1:59.46 for the third spot.\u00a0Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Seliskar\u00a0<\/strong>was the first swimmer of the morning under two minutes with a fourth seeded 1:59.89.\u00a0<strong>Austin Surhoff\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.26) placed fifth this morning.<\/p>\n<p>In his second swim of the morning,\u00a0<strong>Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.35) grabbed the sixth spot. Club Wolverine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kyle Whitaker\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.36) was seventh.<\/p>\n<p>Short course American record holder\u00a0<strong>David Nolan\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:00.50 for the eighth spot in semifinals.\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>moved up to ninth in the 17-18 National Age Group rankings with a 2:00.79.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christian McCurdy\u00a0<\/strong>had the top time of 2:01.19 entering the circle seeded heats.
