{"id":209560,"date":"2016-06-27T18:31:37","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T01:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=209560"},"modified":"2016-06-27T18:55:06","modified_gmt":"2016-06-28T01:55:06","slug":"olivia-smoliga-maintains-top-spot-in-100-back-missy-franklin-7th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olivia-smoliga-maintains-top-spot-in-100-back-missy-franklin-7th\/","title":{"rendered":"Olivia Smoliga Maintains Top Spot in 100 Back; Missy Franklin 7th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning&#8217;s leader\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the wall in 59.16, a new personal best and the fifth best in the world this year in the 100 backstroke.\u00a0SwimMAC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>led the second semifinal at the halfway mark and came home second in 59.36.<\/p>\n<p>Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amy Bilquist\u00a0<\/strong>won the first semifinal as the only swimmer under a minute in 59.85 and took the third seed.\u00a0<strong>Hannah Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>of the University of Missouri\u00a0was fourth overall in 1:00.07.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ali Deloof<\/strong>\u00a0of the University of Michigan and her teammate<strong> Clara Smiddy <\/strong>are fifth and sixth in 1:00.11 and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>1:00.29.<\/p>\n<p>Olympic gold medalist in this event\u00a0<strong>Missy Franklin\u00a0<\/strong>ended up seventh with a 1:00.45.
