Despite\u00a0<strong>Ryan<\/strong> <strong>Lochte<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0epic underwaters, Dwyer finished first in 1:46.96 for tomorrow&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the wall in the opening semifinal with a 1:47.15. Just .03 behind him was short course American record holder<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:47.18.\u00a0And completing a trifecta of Texas Longhorns was<strong> Clark Smith\u00a0<\/strong>in fourth overall with a 1:47.49.<\/p>\n<p>Lochte made it to the wall fifth in 1:47.58, setting himself up for a chance at Rio after missing out in last night&#8217;s 40 IM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tyler Clary\u00a0<\/strong>scratched the 400 IM last night to focus on this race and finished third in the first semifinal with a 1:47.66, good for sixth overall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.80) and\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Roberts\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.94) also earned lanes in tomorrow&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p>World junior record holder\u00a0<strong>Maxime Rooney<\/strong> (1:47.98) and\u00a0<strong>Michael Klueh\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.14) finished ninth and tenth. Just behind was\u00a0Badger Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>in 59.26. The two will head to Rio as first time Olympians.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Prenot\u00a0<\/strong>of Cal finished third, over a half second behind in 59.81.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>once again lowered his National Age Group record and World Junior record with a fourth place finish of 59.82.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>was the last swimmer under a minute with a 59.97. While it escaped her at the end, she still posted a 3:58.98.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leah Smith\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 4:00.65 and also challenged the world record mark at the halfway point. She swam a best time by over two seconds. The two posted the top two times in the world this year as they dominated the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cierra Runge\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 4:07.04. That time was the fifth fastest ever.<\/p>\n<p>Olympic gold medalist<strong> Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 52.64 for the third seed entering tomorrow&#8217;s final.\u00a0<strong>Jacob Pebley\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 53.10 for second in the first semifinal, and the fourth overall seed.
