He stopped the clock in 1:54.89, faster than the old 1:55.63. That&#8217;s the sixth best time in the world this year, though well off his world leading 1:52.91. In second was\u00a0<strong>Bence Biczo\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:57.30 and\u00a0<strong>Stefanos Dimitradis\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 1:57.58.<\/p>\n<p>After a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/coralie-balmy-jumps-to-4th-in-world-in-400-free-at-settecolli-trophy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian record in the 50 backstroke<\/a> prelims yesterday,<strong> Kylie Masse\u00a0<\/strong>was the only swimmer under a minute in tonight&#8217;s 100 backstroke. She touched in 59.66 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Katarina Listopadova\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:00.21 and <strong>Carlotta<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Zofkova\u00a0Costa De Saint\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:00.70.<\/p>\n<p>Italian\u00a0<strong>Niccolo Bonacchi\u00a0<\/strong>led a close finish in the men&#8217;s 100 backstroke. He stopped the clock in 54.23.\u00a0<strong>Apostolos Christou\u00a0<\/strong>followed in 54.35 and\u00a0<strong>David Gamburg\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 54.38.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 400 IM was incredibly close.\u00a0<strong>Luisa Trombetti\u00a0<\/strong>took gold in 4:40.06, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Sara Franceschi\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:40.39. Completing the podium was\u00a0<strong>Reka Gyorgy\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:41.31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Verraszto\u00a0<\/strong>took the men&#8217;s 400 IM by a large margin, finishing in 4:12.21. Silver went to\u00a0<strong>Federico Turrini\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:15.90 and\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Gratz<\/strong>&#8216;s 4:16.00 was good for bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ruta Meilutyte\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 30.29 for women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke gold.\u00a0<strong>Arianna Castiglioni\u00a0<\/strong>(31.04) and\u00a0<strong>Jennie Johansson\u00a0<\/strong>(31.09) took silver and bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cameron Van Der Burgh\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Giedrius Titenis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nicolo Martinenghi\u00a0<\/strong>for the 50 breaststroke crown. The podium men posted times of 27.28, 27.34 and 27.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ilaria Bianchi\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Penny Oleksiak\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Lilian Szilagyi\u00a0<\/strong>to claim the 100 butterfly title. She touched in 58.36. Oleksiak was .01 ahead of Szilagyi as the two touched in 58.41 and 58.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo\u00a0<\/strong>got to the wall just before\u00a0<strong>Federica Pellegrini\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 freestyle, as the two stopped the clock in 53.14 and 53.18. Oleksiak was third in 53.67.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 freestyle gold went to\u00a0<strong>Gabriele Such\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:46.78.\u00a0<strong>Dominik Kozma\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:47.38 for second and\u00a0<strong>Marco Belotti\u00a0<\/strong>was third (1:47.81).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boglarka Kapas\u00a0<\/strong>topped the women&#8217;s 800 freestyle in 8:22.21.\u00a0<strong>Diletta Carli\u00a0<\/strong>swam an 8:27.26 for second and third went to\u00a0<strong>Martina Rita Caramignoli\u00a0<\/strong>in 8:30.59.<\/p>\n<p>Peltrinieri swam a 14:51.62 to win the men&#8217;s 1500.
