DURING the fourth night of action at the Denmark Long Course Championships held in Esbjerg, Mads Glaesner became the first sub-15:00 miler in Denmark's history.

Glaesner clocked in with a sterling time of 14:58.55 in the men's 1500 free. The effort crushed his previous national record of 15:03.33 set at the Beijing Olympics. Additionally, Pal Joensen made some noise with a swift 15:02.80 for second place.

Micha Ostergaard completed an equally impressive swim in the women's 100 fly with a time of 57.97. That performance gave Denmark its first sub-58 swim in the event as Jeanette Ottesen owned the previous record with a 58.27 from July 2008.

Rikke Moller Pedersen (1:08.51) and Lia Dekker (1:08.54) followed in the women's 100 breast semis as both women dipped under the national record of 1:08.75 set by Pedersen in February.

Next, Chris Christensen cruised in the men's 400 IM with a triumphant time of 4:22.86, while Lotte Friis cleared her national record in the women's 400 free with a time of 4:07.37. The swim knocked a second off her standard of 4:08.47 set at the Beijing Olympics.

In the final event of the night, Jakob Andjkaer smashed his national record in the men's 100 fly with a 52.09 in the semifinal heats. The time cleared his 52.24 set in Beijing. Meanwhile, Andkjaer won the men's 100 free earlier in the evening with a 49.49.

In other semifinal action, Ottesen paced the women's 50 free in 25.34, while Robin van Aggele of The Netherlands led the men's 50 breast in 28.32. Notably, Mathias Andersen broke the national record in the sprint breast with a second-seeded 29.05. That swim edged the 29.08 set by Michael Schultz Andersen in July 2008. Pernille Larsen then led the women's 50 back semis with a time of 29.58, while Anders Jensen topped the men's 100 back semis in 57.11.

ESBJERG, Denmark, April 10.
