BLOOMINGTON, Ind. \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced Tuesday their selections to the 2016 All-Academic Team. Eight Indiana Hoosiers received accolades, including outstanding honors for\u00a0Sarah Myers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Emily Lowe<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To be eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic Team, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above. To receive an outstanding honor, students must have a cumulative grade point average ranging from 3.71 to 4.00. Superior honors indicate a grade point average between 3.41 and 3.70, while excellent honors range from 3.20 to 3.40. In total, 504 student-athletes garnered All-Academic honors, with 131 outstanding honors, 198 superior honors, and 175 excellent honors.<\/p>\n

Myers picked up her second All-Academic outstanding honors of her two-year career. The award is the third academic honor of her career, including her previous ACWPC selection and a selection to this year’s Academic All-Big Ten team. Lowe’s outstanding honors are the second of her career, joining her Academic All-Big Ten selection this season.<\/p>\n

Three Hoosiers garnered superior honors from the ACWPC:\u00a0Karrie Kozokar<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Candyce Schroeder<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Sarah Young<\/a><\/strong>. Schroeder earned her fourth ACWPC academic honor of her career, picking up superior honors in all four seasons. Young received superior honors in 2015 as well, while Kozokar made her debut on the All-Academic team. All three students earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2016.<\/p>\n

The Hoosiers receiving excellent honors this season are\u00a0Jordan Elwood<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Kelly Matthews<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Mackenzie Rosenthal<\/a><\/strong>. Matthews earns her second selection to the All-Academic team after receiving outstanding honors in 2015. Elwood, a first-time recipient of the ACWPC honor, adds this to her two Academic All-Big Ten selections in 2015 and 2016. For Rosenthal, this is her first academic award in her first season with Indiana.<\/p>\n
