THE Trident Swim Foundation is entering its second year of operation, and major gains are already evident in the children they have worked with in and out of the pool.<\/p>\n<p>In this SwimmingWorld.TV interview found on page 7 of <i>Swimming World&#39;s<\/i> April digital issue, foundation co-founders Jeremy Fain and Kristin Gary talk about the three core components of the program\u2014discipline, values and teamwork\u2014and how the students at George Washington High School in New York City are working toward being models for their community.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the pool, the students\u2014many of whom are minority children in low-income families\u2014prepare for their PSAT exams and are mentored on their college choices. In the pool, the workouts are the same as other USA Swimming-sanctioned teams across the country\u2014an achievement in itself, given that many of the students did not know how to swim a length of the pool when they started.
