The CenturyLink Center in Omaha is hosting a two day trial run before the U.S. Olympic Trials kick off next Sunday. The Omaha Cup meet is a final chance for some swimmers to earn Trials cuts while also allowing athletes the opportunity to experience the pool that will soon be home to America’s greatest.<\/p>\n
Fifteen year old\u00a0Jack Dolan\u00a0<\/strong>picked up a Trials cut in the 100 backstroke. The Rockwood Swim Club swimmer finished in 56.81, under the 57.19 standard. Wichita Swim Club’s\u00a0Benjamin Patton\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 57.70 and\u00a0Slade Sheaffer\u00a0<\/strong>of Wyoming Aquatics was third with a 57.84.<\/p>\n Greater Nebraska’s\u00a0Olivia Calegan\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Dannie Dilsaver\u00a0<\/strong>both cleared the Trials cut in the 100 breaststroke. The two touched in 1:09.61 and 1:11.10. Splash Club’s\u00a0Haley Downey\u00a0<\/strong>was .04 short of the cut with a 1:11.53.<\/p>\n Dilsaver was on fire tonight, later earning her cut in the 200 IM with a 2:17.48. Her teammate\u00a0Caroline Theil\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 2:20.31 and Highlands Ranch’s\u00a0Delaney Smith\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:21.57.<\/p>\n After coming close this morning, Kansas City’s\u00a0Cailey Grunhard\u00a0<\/strong>secured her spot at Trials with a 1:00.91 to win the 100 butterfly.\u00a0Dana Posthuma\u00a0<\/strong>of Club Huskers touched second in 1:01.69 and her teammate\u00a0Erin Oeltjen\u00a0<\/strong>completed the top three with a 1:02.10.<\/p>\n Greater Nebraska’s\u00a0Olivia Calegan\u00a0<\/strong>secured her 50 freestyle trials cut in 25.97 and\u00a0Morgan Wice-Roslin\u00a0<\/strong>also slipped under the standard with a 26.11.\u00a0Megan Keil\u00a0<\/strong>of Wichita was third in 26.27.<\/p>\n Phillip Willett\u00a0<\/strong>led a trio who finished well ahead of the field in the 400 IM. He touched in 4:32.82. Second went to West Chicago’s\u00a0Garrett Clasen\u00a0<\/strong>(4:35.49) and\u00a0Bryce Blattner\u00a0<\/strong>of Wichita Aqua Shocks was third in 4:36.66.<\/p>\n Willet was also first to the wall with a 2:20.86 200 breaststroke. Central Iowa’s\u00a0Justin Qinnett\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:21.73 and\u00a0Austin Smith\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 2:23.70.<\/p>\n Jordan Stout\u00a0<\/strong>of Rockwood won the women’s 200 freestyle in 2:05.33. Aquajets’\u00a0Raime Jones\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up in 2:06.13 and\u00a0Lauren Votava\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 2:06.42.<\/p>\n Ryan Bubb\u00a0<\/strong>of Heartland Aquatics won the men’s 100 freestyle by over a second in 51.18. Aquajets’\u00a0Samuel Schilling\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 52.41, just .01 ahead of\u00a0Jacob Molacek\u00a0<\/strong>in 52.42.<\/p>\n Schilling finished in the top three again with a third place 4:07.14 in the 400 freestyle.\u00a0Scott Bergstorm\u00a0<\/strong>of Hood River Valley won that race (4:05.32) and Aquajet’s\u00a0Jack Dahlgren\u00a0<\/strong>split the middle in 4:07.14.<\/p>\n Kyle Ewoldt\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock at 2:03.38 to claim the men’s 200 butterfly.
