{"id":208068,"date":"2016-06-17T13:50:13","date_gmt":"2016-06-17T20:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=208068"},"modified":"2016-06-20T07:23:19","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T14:23:19","slug":"missouri-adds-jack-brown-and-christine-mabile-to-coaching-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/missouri-adds-jack-brown-and-christine-mabile-to-coaching-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Missouri Adds Jack Brown and Christine Mabile to Coaching Staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mizzou Swimming and Diving has added <a href=\"http:\/\/mutigers.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=668&amp;path=wswim\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jack Brown<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/mutigers.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=669&amp;path=wswim\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Christine Mabile<\/strong><\/a> to its staff as full time assistant coaches, head coach <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mutigers.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=292&amp;path=wswim\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Rhodenbaugh<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>announced Friday, June 17. Brown and Mabile will step in to replace outgoing <strong>John Pontz<\/strong>\u00a0(associate head coach) and <strong>Kristen Pritchett<\/strong> (assistant coach).<\/p>\n<p>Brown, who has been the program&#8217;s volunteer assistant, will remain on staff as a full-time assistant. Mabile joins Mizzou&#8217;s staff after serving as head men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving coach at College of Idaho for the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>Brown has served as a volunteer assistant on Rhodenbaugh&#8217;s staff for the last four years after a standout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/the-morning-swim-show-feb-8-2010-jack-brown-looks-toward-winning-individual-championship-at-ncaas\/\" target=\"_blank\">All-American collegiate career<\/a> at Arizona (where Rhodenbaugh formerly coached).<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, Brown finished fourth in the nation, earning All-America honors, in the 400 IM and finished in the national top 10 in that event in every year during his career at Arizona. Following his collegiate career, Brown swam with USA Swimming and placed third in the 400 IM at the 2009 National Championships, narrowly missing a spot on the 2009 World Championship team.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We are excited to be able to bring Jack on full time with our staff,&#8221; Rhodenbaugh said. &#8220;His experience as an athlete and coach at the highest levels of our sport will continue to be an incredible asset to our student-athletes and our program here at Mizzou.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mabile will bring head coaching experience to Rhodenbaugh&#8217;s staff after spending five years at the helm of College of Idaho&#8217;s swimming and diving program, where she recorded the most wins by a coach in program history. Mabile led both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s programs to five consecutive berths at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships, including top-15 finishes in the last four seasons. In 2015-16, the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s teams finished seventh and 10th, respectively, both the highest in school history.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Christine&#8217;s head coaching experience of both men and women by herself at the College of Idaho will bring a lot of experience to our pool deck,&#8221; Rhodenbaugh said. &#8220;She is excited to be back at the Division I level and can&#8217;t wait to dig in here at Mizzou.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Before her stint at C of I, Mabile spent four seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Boise State, helping the Broncos to the 2010 and 2011 WAC Championship.
