THE Auburn Tigers led the three fastest 400-yard medley relays of all time during an incredible close to an exciting evening of competition at the NCAA Division I Men&#39;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn&#39;s Pascal Wollach (45.32), Adam Klein (51.01), Tyler McGill (43.99) and Matt Targett (41.07) put together a 3:01.39 to crush the NCAA record of 3:02.94 set by Stanford during prelims.  The effort also smashed the U.S. Open record of 3:02.47 set by Longhorn Aquatics in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The win gave Auburn its third victory in the event all time in NCAA history.  Previous wins came in 1997 and 1999.  Michael Bartz, Adam Jerger, John Hargis and Brock Newman won in 97 with a 3:08.96, while Bartz, Dave Denniston, Newman and current men&#39;s coach Brett Hawke went 3:09.17 in 99.<\/p>\n<p>California&#39;s David Russell (45.76), Damir Dugonjic (50.58), Graeme Moore (45.12) and Nathan Adrian (40.23) raced to second in a blazing 3:01.69, while Stanford&#39;s Eugene Godsoe (45.49), Paul Kornfeld (51.29), Austin Staab (43.55) and Alex Coville (41.58) placed third in 3:01.91.<\/p>\n<p>Texas completed the first day of action with a leading tally of 171 points.  Auburn held second with 141 points, while Stanford sat third with 130 points.
