HOUSTON, Texas, March 13. THE third night of action at the NCAA Division II Championships featured even more division records at the meet held in Houston, Texas.<\/p>\n
Drury remained in the lead for the women's title with 417 points. Wayne State stood a distant second with 343 points, while UC San Diego held third with 318 points. Truman State (249.5) and Ouachita Baptist (179) completed the top five.<\/p>\n
Wayne State's men went into the final day with the lead after compiling 404.5 points through the first three days. Drury stood second with 368 points, while Missouri S&T (216), Limestone (206.5) and Ouachita Baptist (197) were in third through fifth.<\/p>\n
The third night of swimming started off with Wayne State's Ashley St. Andrew winning the 500-yard free in 4:51.44. Incarnate Word's Paulina Alexander took second in 4:53.12, while Tampa's Jessie Bardin finished third in 4:54.30. Incarnate Word's Alex Yatsko followed in the men's 500-yard free with a winning time of 4:22.82 as he just missed the division record of 4:22.58 set by Vlasta Burda in 2002. Wayne State's Fernando Costa took second in 4:23.12.<\/p>\n
Drury's Jing Hua claimed the first division record of the night with a time of 53.88 in the women's 100-yard back. The swim bettered her record of 54.73 set in 2007. Janelle Slattery of Drury placed second in 54.87. Ouachita Baptist's Radu Badalac then touched out Minnesota State's Marty Wahle, 48.08 to 48.38, for the men's 100-yard back title.<\/p>\n
In an extremely close finish, Wayne State's Courtney Roberts won the women's 100-yard breast in 1:03.05. UC San Diego's Kendall Bohn (1:03.10), Clarion's Denise Simens (1:03.13), Truman's Emily Buss (1:03.36), UC San Diego's Sadie O'Brien (1:03.61) and Moorhead's Ann Gusewelle (1:03.86) all finished in the 1:03s. Tampa's Alex Hetland torched the men's 100-yard breast finale with a division-record time of 52.43. The swim lowered his record of 53.05 set last month in Charlotte.<\/p>\n
Drury's Yuan Qing Li cleared 2:00 to set the division record with a 1:59.69 in the women's 200-yard fly. The effort wiped out her prelim standard of 1:59.82 which in turn bettered the 2:00.62 set by Drury's Cindy Ong in 2004. Wayne State's Duarte Mourao followed in the men's 200-yard fly with a winning effort of 1:44.94.<\/p>\n
Nathan Jimerson of St. Cloud State won the men's three-meter diving title with 522.95 points. Clarion's Logan Pearsall finished second with 492.75 points, while Wayne State's Cayce Bolt took third with 469.95 points.<\/p>\n
Drury's Hua, Slattery, Li Tao and Li cruised in the women's 800-yard free with a division record of 7:21.89. The swim clipped two seconds from the previous record set by Truman State with a 7:23.60 back in 2002.<\/p>\n
Drury's Sergiy Bilov, Alexander Prostenko, Kyrillo Fesenko and Michael Winiewicz won the men's 800-yard free relay in 6:30.77. The effort destroyed the division record of 6:34.57 set by Cal State Bakersfield back in 2004.
