Hayley Peirsol\u00a0<\/strong>held the old record at 8:26.87 from 2006. She also set the Australian record in the swim, which she negative split.\u00a0Tonight’s swim also slightly lowers Ashwood’s\u00a0second place world ranking. Only\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>has been faster (8:06.68) this year.<\/p>\nMiranda Heckman\u00a0<\/strong>(8:50.14) was second and\u00a0Katy Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>placed third
