Women’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

All\u00a0of the women swimming the 400 IM get a second shot at the race tonight, after a no-show from Megan Kingsley<\/strong> and false start from Maggie D’Innocenzo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

LSC’s Madisyn Cox<\/strong> is the top seed in finals (4:48.79), followed by Athens Bulldogs’ Annie Zhu<\/strong> (4:53.56) and Regan Barney<\/strong> (4:55.03), swimming unnattached.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

All around, it appeared that the men are\u00a0saving their energy for a\u00a0second swim in the notoriously grueling 400 IM. Tonight, the race will be between North Baltimore’s Chase Kalisz<\/strong> (4:21.07), Yale’s Kei Hyogo<\/strong> (4:24.98) and John Martens<\/strong> (4:27.45), swimming unnattached.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

The women’s 200 free race is set to be tight in tonight’s A-finals. Although North Baltimore’s Cierra Runge<\/strong> and Colorado Stars’ Olympian\u00a0Missy Franklin<\/strong> were the only two females to break the 2-minute barrier (1:59.47 and 1:59.99, respectively) in prelims, expect a handful of the A-finalists to break the mark tonight. Also in contention for the title are: North Baltimore’s Olympian Allison Schmitt<\/strong> (2:00.40) and LSC’s Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (2:00.55) who is going to have a tough 400IM- 200 Free double later today.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

It may be anyone’s race in tonight’s finals of the men’s 200 free. Only a second and three tenths separates first from eighth, and all of the elite racers were off of their entry times in this morning’s session. This indicates that we may see some considerable time drops tonight. In contention for the win are: Clark Smith<\/strong> (1:50.20), swimming unattached and in the first position, the Most Decorated Olympian of All Time Michael Phelps<\/strong> (1:50.32), representing North Baltimore in the second position and The Woodlands’ Michael McBroom<\/strong> with a 1:50.76 for the third spot in finals.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin<\/strong>, despite adding over seven seconds onto her entry time, qualified first in the A-finals tonight with a 2:11.46 in her signature event. She is seeded\u00a0nearly two seconds ahead of second finisher Quinn Carrozza<\/strong>, who swimming unattached, posted a 2:13.26 for the second position in finals. Third tonight goes to Tasija Karosas<\/strong>, who is also swimming unattached and raced to a 2:14.94 preliminary time.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

100 backstroke Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers<\/strong> of Tucson Ford takes the top position in tonight’s 200 back finals. His 2:03.51 preliminary swim was only 11 one-hundredths ahead of CMSA’s Will Glass<\/strong>. Glass\u00a0cut over a tenth from his entry time for the second position in the A-finals with a 2:03.62. Katy Aquatics’ Austin Vacek<\/strong> qualified third tonight with a 2:04.19.<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rebecca Millard<\/strong> (unattached) and Margo Geer<\/strong> of Tucson Ford were the only two swimmers under the 26-second mark this morning, with a 25.61 and 25.77, respectively. Millard took nearly two-tenths off her seed time to earn the top position in finals. Coming in third this morning was Anelise Diener<\/strong> (unattached) at a 26.40.<\/p>\n

A three person swim-off is required for the eighth position in finals tonight between Sam Sutton<\/strong>, Paseo Aquatics’ Julia Wolf<\/strong> and Brynne Wong<\/strong>, who all touched at a 26.71.<\/p>\n

Men’s 50 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Top seed Brad Tandy<\/strong>, swimming unattached for FORD Aquatics, maintained his position going into finals with a 22.49 morning swim. Seeded second in finals is John Murray<\/strong>, who also cracked the 23-second mark with a 22.96. Third tonight is TOP’s Kyle Robrock<\/strong>, seeded at a 23.08.<\/p>\n
