Three meet records fell on the first night of the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Santa Clara.\u00a0Sun Yang\u00a0<\/strong>set the most stunning of those records on his way to a world leading time in the 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n

In a new meet record time of 1:56.36,\u00a0Emma McKeon\u00a0<\/strong>out touched fellow Australian\u00a0Bronte Barratt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.65) for the win in the first event of the night. McKeon was two seconds off her world’s second best 1:54.83. Barratt has also been the world’s eighth best time of 1:55.95.<\/p>\n

Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:57.70.\u00a0Madison Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0(1:58.45),\u00a0Jessica Ashwood\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.65), and\u00a0Chelsea Chenault\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.87) finished one after another.<\/p>\n

Madeline Groves\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.52),\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.85), and\u00a0Camille Cheng\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.10) completed the A final.<\/p>\n

Noemie Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>held on to her top prelims swim to win the event tonight. She touched in 57.72, not far from her 57.02 from Canadian Trials. That time is also a new meet record. Australian\u00a0Emma McKeon\u00a0<\/strong>was back for a second podium finish tonight with a 58.31 for second place.\u00a0Farida Osman\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 59.13 for third place honors.\u00a0Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>was just on her tail, with a 59.16 in her second swim of the night.<\/p>\n
Madeline Groves\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 59.26 for fifth and\u00a0Janet Hu\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 59.72 for sixth.<\/p>\n
