Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>had two impressive wins on the\u00a0first night of finals at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n

Leah Smith\u00a0<\/strong>followed up her huge prelims swim tonight, dropping .02 seconds. She was out first at the 50, and\u00a0while\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>pushed hard on the third 50, Smith held on for the win, touching in 1:56.64. Smith holds onto her 14th ranking with that swim. Margalis finished in 1:57.33, moving her into 19th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

Vien Nguyen\u00a0<\/strong>placed third in 1:58.82.\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.72) and\u00a0Brittany MacLean\u00a0<\/strong>were also under two minutes in 1:59.72 and 1:59.77.<\/p>\n

Allie Davis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Rebecca Postoll\u00a0<\/strong>tied for sixth in 2:00.16.\u00a0Andrea Pinto\u00a0<\/strong>completed the top eight in 2:00.58.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n

Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>used some outside smoke to pull well ahead of the pack in the final 50 meters. He touched in 1:48.41 for the win. Second went to\u00a0Michael Klueh\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:49.44.\u00a0Anders Nielsen\u00a0<\/strong>secured third with a 1:49.51.<\/p>\n

Connor Jaeger\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.56),\u00a0Michael Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.60), and\u00a0Justin Glanda\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.97) were also under 1:50.<\/p>\n

Darian Townsend\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.30) and\u00a0Michael Wynalda\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.48) completed the A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n

With a quick turnaround from her runner up 200 freestyle performance,\u00a0Margalis turned in a 1:07.26 to win this event. That time was just outside the world’s top 20 this year.<\/p>\n

Andrea Cottrell\u00a0<\/strong>was not far behind in 1:07.95.\u00a0Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>took bronze in 1:08.16.<\/p>\n

Katharine Ross\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.23) and\u00a0Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.45) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n

Micah Lawrence\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.67),\u00a0Emily Fogle\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.10), and\u00a0Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:10.02) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n

The middle lanes jumped out to a quick start with\u00a0Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>leading slightly at the halfway point.\u00a0Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>edged Miller 1:00.13 to 1:00.41.\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind in 1:00.51.<\/p>\n

Carlos Claverie\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.64),\u00a0Sam Tierney\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.84),\u00a0Calum Tait\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.72),\u00a0Yin Lionel Khoo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.37), and\u00a0Anthony Albracht\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.52) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kelsi Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>held a narrow lead at the halfway point, but turned in a 58.12 for the win tonight. That time was a bit off her\u00a0tenth in the world 57.27.<\/p>\n

Christina Bechtel\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 58.73.\u00a0Ivy Martin\u00a0<\/strong>sat only .11 behind Worrell at the 50, but wound up third in 59.71.\u00a0Maggie MacNeil\u00a0<\/strong>was also under a minute with her fourth place 59.98.<\/p>\n

Veronica Burchill<\/strong> (1:00.25) and Bailey Nero\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.26) touched fifth and sixth. In her second swim of the night,\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>was seventh with a 1:00.37.\u00a0Dana Grindall\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth in 1:00.50.<\/p>\n

Santo Condorelli\u00a0<\/strong>jumped to the 17th fastest time in the world this year with a 51.98. That time won the event by a half second as\u00a0Quah Zheng Wen\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 52.45.\u00a0Dylan Bosch\u00a0<\/strong>was a second behind with a third place 53.57.\u00a0Albert Subirats\u00a0<\/strong>was also under 54 with his 53.67.<\/p>\n

Sean Campsie\u00a0<\/strong>(54.23),\u00a0Joshua Quallen\u00a0<\/strong>(54.40),\u00a0Mack Darragh\u00a0<\/strong>(54.42), and\u00a0David Boland\u00a0<\/strong>(54.45) finished fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n

Vietnamese national record holder Vien Nguyen<\/strong>\u00a0battled back in the breaststroke to take home the win with a 4:41.92.\u00a0Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 4:43.11.\u00a0Emily Cameron\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 4:44.67<\/p>\n

Despite leading midway through the backstroke,\u00a0Kaitlyn Jones<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth with a 4:45.13.<\/p>\n

Rachael Bradford-Feldman\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0Lauren Edelman\u00a0<\/strong>4:50.19 to 4:50.29 for fifth.<\/p>\n

Kathryn Painter\u00a0<\/strong>(4:52.32) and\u00a0Sharlene Brady\u00a0<\/strong>(4:53.20) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n

Litherland put together a very impressive double, winning his second event by an even larger\u00a0margin. His final time of 4:13.93 vaulted him to 10th in the world this year. University of Georgia teammate\u00a0Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 4:17.20.\u00a0Ian Rainey\u00a0<\/strong>was well behind in 4:21.38 for bronze.<\/p>\n

Michael Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>placed fourth in 4:26.70 and\u00a0Ryan Massey\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 4:27.54.<\/p>\n

Dylan Cudahy\u00a0<\/strong>(4:27.70),\u00a0Cameron\u00a0<\/strong>Stitt\u00a0<\/strong>(4:29.42) and\u00a0Nolan Tesone\u00a0<\/strong>(4:30.37) completed the A final.<\/p>\n
