LAS VEGAS, Nevada, March 3. OVER the weekend, the final two days of competition in the USA Swimming Sectional held in Las Vegas over short course yards took place.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Madeline DiRado topped the women's 200 IM with a winning time of 1:59.01, while Trevor Hoyt followed with a meet-record time of 1:47.48. Hoyt's swim cleared the 2003 standard of 1:48.55 set by Tom Wilkins.<\/p>\n
In the sprint 50 free events, Kasey Carlson and Madeline Schaefer both beat the previous meet record of 23.17 set in 2003 by Meredith Bryarly. Carlson, though, had the much quicker time with a 22.56 to 23.15 victory. Aaron Wayne then claimed the men's 50 free title in 20.33.<\/p>\n
Haley Anderson kept the ball rolling on a strong meet with a winning time of 4:43.36 in the women's 500 free. That effort just missed Adrienne Binder's meet-record time of 4:43.26 set in 2003. Meanwhile, Nick Trowbridge touched in 4:26.05 for the men's 500 free triumph.<\/p>\n
Anderson kicked Sunday off with a winning time of 16:25.20 in the women's 1650 free with Jamie Tyrrell earning the men's 1650 free crown in 15:38.77. <\/p>\n
Deborah Roth touched out Mary Hanson, 54.91 to 54.96, for the women's 100 back win, while Matthew Murray won the men's 100 back with a time of 49.24. In the 100 breaststroke events, Carlson joined Molly Hannis under the previous meet record of 1:01.96 set by Gabrielle Rose in 2003. Carlson rolled to a winning time of 1:00.22, while Hannis took second in 1:01.92. The men's 100 breast meet record also fell as Cody Miller posted a 54.43. The performance eclipsed the 54.74 set by Ryosuke Imai in 2003.<\/p>\n
Yumi So and Lyndsay De Paul both beat the 2005 meet record of 54.00 set by Amanda Sims in the women's 100 fly. So posted a swift 52.71, while De Paul clocked in at 53.72.
