2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Indianapolis Day 1 Prelims – Results<\/a><\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leah Smith\u00a0<\/strong>improved her 18th place world ranking with a quick 1:56.66 this morning. That swim bumps her to 14th in the world this year, and makes her the top seed for tonight’s finals. She also now stands as the eighth best American all time.<\/p>\n

Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.24),\u00a0Vien Nguyen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.47),\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.90), and\u00a0Brittany MacLeadn\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.99) also finished under two minutes this morning.<\/p>\n

Allie Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.02),\u00a0Andrean Pinto\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.26), and\u00a0Rebecca Postoll\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.53) complete tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Second seed\u00a0Shannon Vreeland\u00a0<\/strong>scratched the event and did not swim this morning.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quah Zheng Wen,\u00a0<\/strong>who just yesterday was named to the Singapore Olympic roster<\/a>, led the way in the 200 freestyle this morning. He touched in 1:49.48.<\/p>\n

Club Wolverine teammates\u00a0Michael Wynalda\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Michael Klueh\u00a0<\/strong>finished second and third in 1:49.51 and 1:49.71.\u00a0Michael Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>touched fourth in 1:49.71 and\u00a0Anders Nielsen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.85) also finished under 1:50.\u00a0Connor Jaeger<\/strong> (1:50.06),\u00a0Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.27), and\u00a0Justin Glanda\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.47) round out tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

Louisville’s\u00a0Andrea Cottrell\u00a0<\/strong>posted the fastest time of the morning in 1:08.54. Just behind her,\u00a0Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>1:08.58 to 1:08.59 as the two took the second and third seeds.<\/p>\n

Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.01),\u00a0Michah Lawrence\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.10),\u00a0Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.30),\u00a0Katharine Ross\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.48), and\u00a0Emily Fogle\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.55) complete tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>was a no show in the event where she holds the world’s second fastest time of the year.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>rose to 13th in the world this year with his 59.93 to lead prelims this morning.\u00a0Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.37) and\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.93) followed as the only other swimmers under 1:01.<\/p>\n

Sam Tierney\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.65),\u00a0Carlos Claverie\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.16),\u00a0Tin Yionel Khoo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.94),\u00a0Calum Tait\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.09), and\u00a0Anthony Albracht\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.33) will also race in tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kelis Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted well ahead of the field to take the 100 butterfly top seed. She clocked a 58.10. Though nearly a second off her world’s tenth, that still makes her the top seed by a second and a half.<\/p>\n

Christian Bechtel\u00a0<\/strong>(59.60) and\u00a0Ivy Martin\u00a0<\/strong>(59.90) were the only other swimmers under a minute.<\/p>\n

Maggie MacNeil\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.17),\u00a0Veronica Burchill\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.28),\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.32),\u00a0Dana Grindall\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.56), and\u00a0Bailey Nero\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.65) round out tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his second swim of the morning, Zheng Wen posted a 52.89, to take another top seed.<\/p>\n

Second went to\u00a0Santo Condorelli\u00a0<\/strong>in 53.32.\u00a0Dylan Bosch\u00a0<\/strong>(53.40) and\u00a0Sean Campsie\u00a0<\/strong>(53.81), followed, also under 54 seconds.<\/p>\n

Albert Subirats\u00a0<\/strong>(54.28),\u00a0David Boland\u00a0<\/strong>(54.48),\u00a0Mack Darragh\u00a0<\/strong>(54.51), and\u00a0Joshua Quallen\u00a0<\/strong>(54.43) also qualified for tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vien Nguyen\u00a0<\/strong>was the top qualifier with her 4:44.40. Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>was not too far behind in 4:46.07.\u00a0Emily Cameron\u00a0<\/strong>qualified third with a 4:47.32.<\/p>\n

Kaitlyn Jones\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Rachael Bradford-Feldman\u00a0<\/strong>touched one after another with times of 4:48.26 and 4:48.31.\u00a0Lauren Edelman\u00a0<\/strong>(4:49.23),\u00a0Kathryn Painter\u00a0<\/strong>(4:49.81), and\u00a0Sharlene Brady\u00a0<\/strong>(4:52.18) round out the top eight seeds.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

University of Georgia teammates\u00a0Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>were the top two qualifiers this morning. Litherland clocked in at 4:24.22, just ahead of Bentz in 4:24.59.\u00a0Michael Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>secured his second A final swim with a 4:25.67.<\/p>\n

Ian Rainey\u00a0<\/strong>(4:25.74),\u00a0Nolan Tesone\u00a0<\/strong>(4:26.20),\u00a0Ryan Massey\u00a0<\/strong>(4:26.45),\u00a0Cameron Stitt\u00a0<\/strong>(4:27.79), and\u00a0Dylan Cudahy\u00a0<\/strong>(4:28.52) will complete the A final tonight.<\/p>\n
