THE Pacific 10 Women&#39;s Championships have gone two-for-two during the initial set of short course yard finals sessions as a pair of American, NCAA and U.S. Open records have fallen the past two nights.<\/p>\n<p>One night after California&#39;s Dana Vollmer downed the American, NCAA and U.S. Open standard in the 200-yard free, Stanford&#39;s Julia Smit dropped the American, NCAA and U.S. Open records in the women&#39;s 200-yard IM.<\/p>\n<p>Smit clocked a blazing fast time of 1:53.11 to win the event.  The swim lowered Katie Hoff&#39;s American and U.S. Open record of 1:53.77 set in Annapolis in December of 2007.  Her time also bested the NCAA record of 1:53.91 set by Maggie Bowen of Auburn back in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Lara Jackson came up just short of her NCAA and American record of 21.33 in the women&#39;s 50-yard free when she scorched the pool with a 21.36 to win the splash and dash.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Arizona&#39;s Alyssa Anderson claimed the women&#39;s 500-yard free crown with a time of 4:38.71.  In the diving well, UCLA&#39;s Marisa Samaniego clinched the one-meter diving crown with a tally of 320.85 points.<\/p>\n<p>In a head-to-head battle, Arizona touched out California, 1:27.47 to 1:27.77, in the women&#39;s 200-yard freestyle relay.  Arizona&#39;s time came from Jackson, Anna Turner, Justine Schluntz and Taylor Baughman, while Vollmer, Hannah Wilson, Erica Dagg and Liv Jensen swam for Cal.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona held the team title lead after the first day with 510.5 points, while Cal stood second with 448.5 points.
