CLAREMONT, Calif, Dec. 12. ELLIOTT Kolbe (Jr., Gardenerville, Nev.\/Douglas HS)finished first in all seven events he swam to lead the Seattle University
\nmen's swim team to a dominating victory at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Winter Invitational over the weekend in Claremont, Calif. <\/p>\n
Seattle finished with a total of 833 points. Second place University of Redlands was far off pace with 465.5 points. <\/p>\n
Seattle's women also cruised to victory with 583 points as SU swept the meet. The women were also well ahead of their closest competitor, host school Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, which finished with 410.5 points.<\/p>\n
Kolbe captured titles in four individual events and helped three SU relays to first place finishes, the maximum amount of events a swimmer is allotted in an invitational. He was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:57.71. The only swimmer under two minutes, he won the event by over five seconds. He also won the 100 breaststroke (59.27), the 100 freestyle (47.91) and the 200 breast (2:11.95). <\/p>\n
Kolbe also helped the 200 free relay (1:28.33), the
\n400 medley relay (3:38.21) and the 400 free relay (3:14.62) teams to victory.<\/p>\n
Zach Mueller (Fr., Laramie, Wyo.\/Laramie HS) won two events for the Redhawk men. He took first in the 500 free (4:56.89) and the 1650 free (17:17.21) to help in the rout. Mike Selter (Sr., San Jose, Cal.\/Bellarmine Prep), who finished second behind Mueller in the 500 free, captured the title in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:23.86. Chris Garcia (Jr., Chehalis\/WF
\nWest HS) picked up a first place finish in the 50 free, finishing in 22.10.<\/p>\n
Megan Ackerman (So., Shoreline\/Shoreline HS), Gretchen Denzer (Fr.,University Place\/Curtis HS) and Emily Woodworth (Fr., Kent\/Kent-Meridian HS)each picked up a first place finish to lead the women. Ackerman was
\nvictorious in the 1650 free, finishing 31 seconds in front of her closest competitor with a time 18:04.70. Denzer captured the 100 free title by posting a time of 55.48, and Woodworth swam the 200 back in 2:13.03.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
