Randall Larson\u00a0<\/strong>will be inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame this fall. He was the three meter NCAA Champion in 1964, and is one of eight inductees in the Class of 2016.<\/p>\n

COLUMBUS, Ohio \u2013 Eight new members will be enshrined in the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame this fall. The Class of 2016, which includes athletes from eight sports. Will be inducted Sept. 9 at a dinner and introduced to the public at halftime of the Ohio State home football vs. Tulsa.<\/p>\n

The group includes Justin Kronauge<\/strong> (men\u2019s tennis), John Machado<\/strong> (baseball), Jantel Lavender<\/strong> (women\u2019s basketball), Randall Larson<\/strong> (diving), Sam Marder<\/strong> (softball), Dan Taylor<\/strong> (men\u2019s track and field), Evan Turner<\/strong> (men\u2019s basketball) and Paul Zelenak<\/strong> (pistol).<\/p>\n

The hall of fame was created in 1977 and has inducted 294 men through 2015. Machado will be the 22nd baseball player enshrined, while Turner will be the 38th men\u2019s basketball alumnus to be inducted. Taylor is the 24th member of the track and field program to be selected, while Zelenak will be the first men\u2019s pistol standout to be enshrined. Kronauge will bring the number of men\u2019s tennis players enshrined to six and Larson will be the 21st diver inducted.<\/p>\n

Women were first inducted into the hall in 1993, with 116 outstanding student-athletes, coaches and administrators enshrined through 2015. Lavender is set to be the 13th women\u2019s basketball player to be inducted and Marder will give the softball program six inductees.<\/p>\n

Information on the induction ceremony will be available at a later date.<\/p>\n

Randall (Randy) Larson, diving<\/h3>\n

A national champion and All-American, Randy Larson is one of the most decorated divers Ohio State has ever seen. The 1964 NCAA Champion on three-meter and three-time All-American on both one and three-meter, he set a standard by which all Ohio State divers should be measured and added another chapter to Ohio State outstanding history of diving.<\/p>\n

Larson began his career as a sophomore in the 1963-64 season during a time when freshman were not eligible to compete at the varsity level. Larson proceeded to earn All-America distinctions in all six events he entered in his career, and between Big Ten and NCAA Championships he never finished outside of the Top 6 in any postseason event. His national championship made him the seventh consecutive Buckeye to take home the title in that event and the 11th in a 12-year span.<\/p>\n

Larson was a finalist for the 1964 Olympic Trials and a finalist on both one and three meter boards, as well as platform, at AAU Nationals all three of his varsity seasons. He served as a co-captain during his senior campaign in Columbus.<\/p>\n
