{"id":204640,"date":"2016-05-25T13:30:20","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T20:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=204640"},"modified":"2016-05-26T12:36:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-26T19:36:48","slug":"banned-coach-zhou-ming-reportedly-back-on-deck-as-chinese-swimmers-move-to-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/banned-coach-zhou-ming-reportedly-back-on-deck-as-chinese-swimmers-move-to-turkey\/","title":{"rendered":"Banned Coach Zhou Ming Reportedly Back On Deck as Chinese Swimmers Move to Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>UPDATE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/dirk-lange-responds-to-telegraph-article-claiming-he-is-working-with-chinese-dopers\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dirk Lange<\/strong> released a statement denying all allegations<\/a>. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Chinese coach <strong>Zhou Ming<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/banned-zhou-ming-still-on-deck-in-china\/\" target=\"_blank\">who has been banned for life<\/a>\u00a0for doping violations,\u00a0has yet again ignored his sanctions and is back on deck again, this time reportedly with a contingent of Chinese swimmers currently training in Turkey according to the <em>Daily Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This news comes just two months after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailytelegraph.com.au\/news\/olympic-training-squad-fed-up-with-sharing-pool-with-rival-chinese-swimmers\/news-story\/f87698391f61a7e745b747eda064e36b\" target=\"_blank\">Australian swimmers threw a fit at having to train alongside many Chinese swimmers back in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese swimmers reportedly moved training bases up to Turkey at the Gloria Sports Centre in Belek, run by German swim coach <strong>Dirk Lange<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Lange posted a picture of the Chinese team in Belek on Instagram as shown above.<\/p>\n<p>Zhou has been a part of systematic Chinese doping of swimmers since it was first exposed in the 90s. \u00a0He has been banned for life by FINA, but has routinely shown up back on deck in a variety of locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the reasons they turned to Dirk was after (The Sunday Telegraph) turned up the heat in China, they were definitely looking for options,\u201d a top swimming official told the <em>Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The article also quotes legendary swim coach <strong>Bill Sweetenham<\/strong> taking shots at Lange, as Lange has had a checkered past relating to doping as he reportedly served a suspension for refusing to take a drug test.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was openly recruiting sprint coaches around the world.
