FORT COLLINS, Colo. \u2013 The Colorado State swimming & diving squad has added three more swimmers to its 2016-17 roster, head coach Woody Woodard<\/strong> has announced.<\/p>\n

Rowan Hauber<\/strong>, a transfer from Iowa, and incoming freshmen Marie Goodwyn<\/strong> and Georgia Young<\/strong> will look to add talent, energy and top times to the Rams next season.<\/p>\n

Hauber will join the Rams as a junior with two seasons of eligibility remaining. As a sophomore with the Hawkeyes in 2015-16, Hauber posted the third-best 100 backstroke time (55.63) on the team. In her freshman season, Hauber swam an NCAA \u201cB\u201d qualifying time in the 100 back, and posted times in both the 100 and 200 back that rank in the top-10 in Iowa history. The Baltimore, Maryland native competed at Olympic Trials as a 15-year old in 2012 and was a high school All-American as a junior while competing at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon.<\/p>\n

\u201cRowan is a tremendously talented athlete who has already competed at a high level in the Big Ten, and we believe she can make an immediate impact upon our squad and the Mountain West,\u201d Woodard stated about Hauber. \u201cIf she adapts to the altitude training and power work, she will be a valuable contributor in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goodwyn, a Colorado Springs native, competed for Cheyenne Mountain High School and Pikes Peak Athletics club. She served as CMHS team captain in 2015-16 and was named the team\u2019s Most Valuable Swimmer. She contributed to their 400 free relay team that set the CHSAA 4A state record this season, and was the individual champion in the 100 back at the 2016 CHSAA championships. Goodwyn was also a NISCA Academic All-American and graduated Summa Cum Laude from CMHS.<\/p>\n

“Marie was someone we targeted early in the recruiting process and we’re so glad she made a commitment to the Rams,\u201d Woodard said about Goodwyn. \u201cShe continues to progress under the staff at Pikes Peak and she possesses great range and ability. We have no doubt Marie will blossom into a MW finalist very quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Young, who hails from Aurora, Illinois, has competed for the Academy Bullets club team and for Rosary High School. Young excelled in freestyle events, and also competed in free relays and the 200 IM. She served as team captain at Rosary this past season, helping guide her squad to a state championship. She qualified for the state championship three times before (2012-14), and she earned Honorable Mention Kane County All-Area recognition in 2014. Young also performed well in the classroom, being named a scholar athlete every year and receiving honor roll recognition three times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re extremely fortunate to have Georgia Young joining our team this fall,\u201d Woodard said on Young. \u201cShe is exactly the type of motivator and leader that fits our culture. Georgia had a breakout season under Academy Bullets coaches Bill Schalz and Todd Capen and has the versatility and toughness that should help our team continue to improve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trio joins the four freshmen (Andrea Basile<\/strong>, Jade Federlin<\/strong>, Madison Gess<\/strong> and Veronica Morin<\/strong>) that signed in November and Purdue transfer Haley Rowley<\/strong> as CSU\u2019s newcomers heading into 2016-17.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur coaching staff is so excited and eager for the opportunity to work with these young athletes,\u201d Woodard summarized. \u201cThey are exemplary students with great character and a whole lot of potential. They will enhance our roster depth, and in some areas they have the potential to make a major impact at the Mountain West and NCAA level.\u201d<\/p>\n
