She touched in 2:10.53.\u00a0<strong>Miho Teramura\u00a0<\/strong>earned runner up honors in 2:11.52.\u00a0<strong>Sakiko Shimizu<\/strong>,\u00a0who owns the sixth world ranking in 2:10.51, settled for third in 2:11.93.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kousuke Hagino\u00a0<\/strong>posted the second best 200 IM in the world this year, with a 1:56.13, only slower than his own top ranked performance of 1:55.07.\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>was the only other swimmer under two minutes, stopping the clock in 1:58.35.\u00a0<strong>Keita Sunama\u00a0<\/strong>completed the podium with a 2:01.07.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emi Moronuki\u00a0<\/strong>won gold in the women&#8217;s 50 backstroke, stopping the clock in 28.14.\u00a0<strong>Masumi Takaba\u00a0<\/strong>earned silver in 28.60 and bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Mayuko Mori\u00a0<\/strong>in 28.78. Exhibition swimmers\u00a0<strong>Kaylee McKeown\u00a0<\/strong>(28.27) and\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Au\u00a0<\/strong>(28.53) posted the second and third fastest times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junya Hasegawa\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Syunichi Nakao\u00a0<\/strong>25.44 to 25.45 for 50 backstroke victory. Third place went to\u00a0<strong>Takashi Morinaga\u00a0<\/strong>in 25.59.<\/p>\n<p>Though well off her world leading 23.84,\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>posted by far the fastest 50 freestyle of the day, finishing in 24.31. That&#8217;s the fifth best in the world this year. Fellow Australian\u00a0<strong>Shayna Jack\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 25.02, the second best time of the field. Officially,\u00a0<strong>Miki Uchida\u00a0<\/strong>won the event in 25.25 while\u00a0<strong>Sayuki Ouchi\u00a0<\/strong>took runner up honors in 25.48 and\u00a0<strong>Yayoi Matsumoto\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a 25.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cameron McEvoy\u00a0<\/strong>recorded the third fastest 50 freestyle of the year in 21.61,\u00a0just shy of his second ranked 21.44.\u00a0<strong>James Magnussen<\/strong>\u00a0clocked a 22.31, the third fastest overall time of the meet.\u00a0<strong>Katsumi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>officially\u00a0won the event in 22.26.\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura\u00a0<\/strong>won silver with a 22.34 and in 22.56\u00a0<strong>Junya Koga\u00a0<\/strong>took home bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s butterfly power\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>followed up her 50 victory with a 57.57 for the 100 crown.\u00a0<strong>Natsumi Hoshi\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Suzuka Hasegawa\u00a0<\/strong>were also under 59 seconds, touching in 58.94 and 58.98.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Takeshi Kawamoto\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 52.36 to claim the men&#8217;s 100 butterfly title.\u00a0<strong>Masayuki Kishida\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 52.59 and\u00a0<strong>Masayuki Umemoto\u00a0<\/strong>placed third with a 52.84.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rie Kanetou\u00a0<\/strong>delivered the world&#8217;s second fastest 200 breaststroke this year, in 2:20.93, only behind her own 2:19.65.\u00a0<strong>Kanako Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 2:23.71 to secure second and\u00a0<strong>Runa Imai\u00a0<\/strong>wound up third in 2:26.48.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ippei Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 2:09.22 to earn men&#8217;s 200 breaststroke gold.\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:10.05 and\u00a0<strong>Yasuhiro Koseki\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 2:10.09 for third.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kanako Watanabe\u00a0turned in the seventh best time in the world this year on her way to victory in the 200 IM.
