That time is a .05 second improvement from his swim at the 2016 Japanese Championships, from which he already owned the top world ranking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>was not far behind, finishing in 4:10.53, the second fastest time in the world this year, and an over two second improvement from his swim at the Tokyo Championships (4:12.98), which had placed him seventh in the world this year.\u00a0<strong>Takeharu Fujimori\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium with a 4:17.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cate Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>tied her own world leading time in the women&#8217;s 100 freestyle, touching in 52.38. Sister <strong>Bronte<\/strong> was well off her 52.58 from the Australian Championships, as she touched in 54.11. Officially, gold went to\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>in 53.98.\u00a0<strong>Miki Uchida\u00a0<\/strong>took second place honors with a 54.99 while\u00a0<strong>Yayoi Matsumoto\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 55.14 for bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Though well off his world leading 47.04, Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cameron McEvoy\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 48.17, the fastest time of the night in the men&#8217;s 100 freestyle. Fellow Australian\u00a0<strong>James Magnussen\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 48.75.\u00a0<strong>Katsumi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>officially won the event with a 48.54.\u00a0<strong>Junya Koga\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in 49.65. Third place finisher\u00a0<strong>Reo Sakata\u00a0<\/strong>also slid under the 50 second barrier, touching in 49.80.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 400 IM\u00a0<strong>Miko Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>was just off her world&#8217;s eighth (4:35.55) with a 4:36.78.\u00a0<strong>Sakiko Shimizu\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 4:37.63, good for second, though two seconds shy of her\u00a0sixth place world ranking.\u00a0<strong>Yui Ohhashi\u00a0<\/strong>touched third in 4:41.17.<\/p>\n<p>Ikee<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 26.05 in tonight&#8217;s women&#8217;s 50 butterfly, her second gold of the evening.. That time won the event by three quarters of a second, and\u00a0is the twelfth best in the world this year.\u00a0<strong>Syoku Tanabe\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 26.80. Bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Yukina Hirayama\u00a0<\/strong>in 26.84.<\/p>\n<p>Touching in 23.49,\u00a0<strong>Masayuki Kishida\u00a0<\/strong>turned in the world&#8217;s seventh best 50 butterfly on his way to the top of the podium.\u00a0<strong>Takeshi Kawamoto\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 23.67 while\u00a0<strong>Syunichi Nakao\u00a0<\/strong>placed third with a 23.90.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Satomi Suzuki\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Miho Teramura\u00a0<\/strong>31.35 to 31.36 in the women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke.<strong> Kanako Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>was also out touched, as she posted a 31.38.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Masato Ueno\u00a0<\/strong>posted the world&#8217;s 13th best 50 breaststroke tonight, as he touched in 27.52.\u00a0<strong>Yashuhiro Koseki\u00a0<\/strong>finished runner up with a 27.70 and\u00a0<strong>Ryouta Nomura\u00a0<\/strong>followed in 27.86.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chihiro Igarashi\u00a0<\/strong>was the winner of the women&#8217;s 400 freestyle, slipping under the 4:10 marker with her 4:09.36.\u00a0<strong>Sachi Mochida\u00a0<\/strong>won silver in 4:10.43 and bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Natsumi Shibata\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:12.79.\u00a0Australian\u00a0<strong>Leah Neale\u00a0<\/strong>swam the second fastest time of the night with her 4:09.98 exhibition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naito Ehara\u00a0<\/strong>took the men&#8217;s 400 freestyle title with a 3:48.09.\u00a0<strong>Takeshi Matsuda\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 3:48.40 for second place while\u00a0<strong>Yuuki Kobori\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 3:48.60. Australian\u00a0<strong>Daniel Smith\u00a0<\/strong>swam exhibition,\u00a0with a 3:48.25, the second fastest time.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibition swimmers posted the two fastest times in the women&#8217;s 200 backstroke.\u00a0<strong>Belinda Hocking\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia, the current world leader, touched in 2:10.58.\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Au\u00a0<\/strong>of Hong Kong was on her heels with a 2:10.88. Gold, however, went to\u00a0<strong>Natsumi Sakai\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:10.94.\u00a0<strong>Mayuko Gotou\u00a0<\/strong>took home silver in 2:11.24, and bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Marie Kamimura\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:11.78.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>was well ahead of the field in the men&#8217;s 200 backstroke, touching in 1:55.89.\u00a0<strong>Hayate Matsubara\u00a0<\/strong>earned runner up honors with a 1:58.80.\u00a0<strong>Masaki Kaneko\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium with a 1:58.98.
