The organization is now looking for a replacement to lead Swimming New Zealand through at least the 2020 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bruct Cotterill<\/strong>, the chairman of Swimming New Zealand, applauded Renford&#8217;s efforts, saying &#8220;he has repositioned our sport in the eyes of many of our stakeholders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite this positive feedback, the organization&#8217;s funding from High Performance Sport New Zealand has fallen by $100,000 each of the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>While Cotterill referred to &#8220;personnel changes&#8221; as &#8220;a fact of life within sports organizations around the Olympic cycle&#8221; high performance director\u00a0<strong>Luis Villanueva <\/strong>also<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>left Swimming New Zealand last year after serving for two and a half years.<\/p>\n<p>Renford will be headed\u00a0to a family business opportunity in Australia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuff.co.nz\/sport\/other-sports\/80227047\/Swimming-NZ-boss-Christian-Renford-to-step-down-after-Rio-Olympic-Games\" target=\"_blank\">Read the full article from stuff.co.nz here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swimming New Zealand CEO\u00a0Christian Renford\u00a0will step down from his position after the 2016 Rio Olympics.
